This time of year the cable stations are bombarded with football shows, College Gameday, the CBS/Fox shows, NFL Matchup, the espn preview show, etc. I was wondering what your favorite was.

Personally, I like Inside the NFL (yes another HBO program). And this is coming from a guy who thought Costas was one of the most overrated announcers, Collingsworth is an arrogant ass, and I was never a big Marino or Chris Carter fan. But I love the way they review the games from the past week in the NFL Films style. Bill Simmons once wrote its like watching instant history.

NFL Primetime. Berman is great on that show.

NFL Primetime is my favorite. That combination of Chris Berman and Tom jackso is great. I am very glad they leave it at those two and do not add Michael Irvin, Steve Young or any of those others they throw in there during the pregame show in the morning. Inside the NFL comes in a close second.

NFL matchup is by far the greatest for me.

Hoge acts like a douche, but I really like the way they break down the games and plays.

I can do w/o the background hype. I already know why the games are important as far as storylines and standings go.

I like the Sunday shows, but I'm kind of tired of Berman. I just don't think he's funny anymore.

His problem is he thinks he's just as big as the games he's covering. He is, but he really should go on a diet. :)

You guys do realize that this is the last year of NFL Primetime. With the new NBC agreement, ESPN is not going to compete against their 1 hour pre-game show.

I like NFL Primetime and I like how Sportscenter gives the highlights of the games.

Edge NFL Matchup is definitly my favorite mostly due to Jaws. Also doesnt have the espn fluff to it.

They announced it... it was in one of David Barron's columns for the Chronicle right before the season started.

I always liked Inside the NFL. I don't have HBO right now though, so I can't watch it.

NFL shows have kinda sucked for a while now though. I used to love the old CBS show with Irv Cross.

Some trends that need to go away yesterday -

    -The saying "make plays"

-the need to preface every comment with the word 'football': "They're going to win some FOOTBALL games", "they're a great FOOTBALL team", etc. Or, you can combine this one with the one above to make it extra painful - "They need to make some FOOTBALL plays". Ugh.

-Guys acting out plays in their suits - wtf is this adding to anything?
