My all-time favorite NES game would have to be "Legend of Zelda". With honorable mentions to TMNT, Mike Tyson's Knock-out, and SMBIII. I liked those games better than the games today. *feels an overwhelming sense of nostalgia*

    nothing beats Tecmo Super Bowl...

I still remember picking it up, after pre-ordering it weeks in advance, at the mall three hours before the Super Bowl (Wash. vs. Buff)... i still play that game to this day... hands down the best video game of all time (IMO)

Zelda 1, Metroid, SMB3, Excite Bike, Contra, and Tecmo Bowl are all you need to live a full and happy life.

Ahh this thread comes up twice a year, so I say this twice a year.

If I play with the oilers, I am unbeatable, every opponent is just a mere mortal. the oilers running game is not even that good, and yet I am still the best.

    Best game ever.

Double Dribble & Blades of freakin Steel!

I was always the Boston Frogs on DD b/c their three point game was unstoppable!

I don't even like Hockey all that much but Blades of Steel was awesome! Me and my brother used to just skate around bumping into eachother until we started a fight!:D

I agree with several of the other mentioned selections, but one that I think needs recognition is RBI Baseball. I played he hell out of that game with my neighbors.

    Ah.. NES..

    Here's my list:

#1. Contra - I got this game when it first came out and to this day, I still play it to death. It's my favorite game of all time and I've played it so often that I seriously believe I must be the best Contra player in the world by now. I've beaten this game multiple times without dying and without getting any powerups whatsoever. I'm not bragging, but I don't see how anyone could be better.

#2. Bionic Commando - The gameplay was innovative and top-notch. Plus, any game about bringing Hitler back from the dead to create an apocalyptic weapon of mass destruction HAS to be cool. This game featured the first curse word in a console game.

#3. Ninja Gaiden - Awesome music, awesome gameplay and pretty damn challenging, too. One of the first, if not the first, to incorporate "cut-scenes" between the action to advance the storyline, which was very good. I remember playing the intro movie over and over as a kid thinking how awesome it was.

#4. Faxanadu - My sleeper pick and one of the most underrated games ever. I got both Faxanadu and Final Fantasy one year for Christmas. I was waiting months and months for Final Fantasy, while Faxanadu, which I had never even heard of, was sort of a 'throw-in' gift. As it turns out, after playing both for a little while, I ended up tossing FF aside for Fax. Fun gameplay, catchy music, a tremendously unique story and an uncommonly original setting drew me in.

#5. Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! - This game is just plain fun. Excellent graphics which look good even today. Came out way back when Tyson was still cool.

    Honorable mentions:

Mega Man series, TMNT, Metroid, Rad Racer 2, Ninja Gaiden 3, Double Dragon.

    I own Mega Man 2.

You have to die once in the game though.

Super Mario Brothers 2 was slightly better than 3 in my damn better than yours opinion.

I think that baseball game that txhiggs was talking about was made by Tengen. That game was kinda fun.

I like this surfing and skateboarding game. T&C surf designs. that was fun.

    Can't think of anymore.

1.) Ice Hockey, Fun as hell and you laugh your ass off playing it.

2.) Tecmo Super Bowl, Without question, THE greatest sports game ever made

3.) Super Mario Bros. 3, After the 2nd one went to cartoonish, The 3rd one brought it home.

4.) Skate or Die 2, Heh, YOU POSERS!, half pipe kicked ass too.

5.) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 : The Arcade Game, Awesome gameplay and its my favorite cartoon ever.
