The corn dog 7 thread kinda inspired me to make a thread dedicated to the greasy, salty, fattening slice of heaven known as mall food. I'm not talking about Wendy's, Taco Bell, Chick Fil-A, or any of the other national fast food joints. I'm talking about food places that are mainly located in malls. My top three: Cinnabon - best cinnamon rolls ever, case closed Auntie Anne's Pretzels - I think this technically counts as "mall food" even though one of the two Houston locations is located at Intercontinental Airport. I actually walked from terminal E to terminal C for one of these. Anyways, they are some damn good pretzels. Great American Steak and Potato Co. - There's one in Baybrook mall...kick ass cheesesteaks and awesome fries...
Baba Habas no doubt! I would kill for one of their Shwarmas right now. Damn. But what I'd rather have even more than that is a Labne Cheese-bread from Latif Bakery. Damn that stuff is good.
Back in the day it used to be Chick Filet. It was the only place you could find it. Now they're everywhere, which is a good thing. I guess I'd have to settle for Sbarro now.
Great American Steack had a spot on UH's campus if I remember correctly. Pretty good food. Cinnabon is off the hizzle fo shosizzle. When you make a good cinnamon roll in my opinion, you've just made a little slice of heaven. this thread is incomplete without a tribute to orange julius. What's up with these malls other than the Galleria like Memorial City and Willowbrook now putting all these fancy smancy places in their food court like Cajun Grille.
The best kind is the free kind. and by that, I mean leftovers in the garbage. especially if its still warm (unless its ice cream.
actually, I understand what A-Train was trying to do with eliminating places like Taco Bell, but you're right, the ole fil-a started in malls.
chick-fil-a will always be considered a "mall food" in my book. that's where they started and that's where i became addicted. on the other hand, i'm glad they now have "stand-alone" stores because i refuse to go to the mall!
Yep, that place is GREAT.. This past weekend I took the woman back to College Station for the weekend so we could see some old friends, but the real reason I wanted to go was to get these damn smoothies at Taste Of The Tropics.. Sad, but true.. I know it's not "food, food" but they are DAMN good..
I don't support Chic-Fil-A because of their religious stance. Tommy's Hamburgers in Northwest Mall. Good burgers and they have lots of old school rockets stuff on the walls.
Why is that? Are they harming anyone with their "religious stance"? Well, outside of that Murphy's Law craving of chicken sandwiches we all have on Sundays.
If you work in Houston Downtown area, you should try out Teppanyaki in the Houston Center mall. Their spicy beef stew is absolutely to die for.
