I have played Call Of Duty,BattleField and Rainbow 6 and out of those 3 i chose Battle Field because it looks more realistic. Whats your guys favorite
COD haven't played rainbow 6 in a long time, so idk what it is like now. Always have hated battlefield, terrible online play
There are only 3 FPS games that matter: 1) counter strike 2) unreal tournament 3) call of duty CS made the FPS genre. Unreal Tournament helped modernize the genre, paving the way for games like Halo, etc. And CoD made console FPS games relevant.
Never played Rainbow 6, but tried CoD and Battlefield. Of those two, Battlefield by far. I think it requires more tactics than CoD.
I'm glad I'm not the only CS gamer. Back in the Philippines, I remember going to Internet cafés to play CS with my friends right after school. Looking back, that wasn't the best use of my time and money.
Rogue Spear (rainbow 6) for me, the game that started it all. Then Unreal Tournament... their multiplayer was friggin epic.
Uh ok. Doom and Wolfenstein led to Quake and Goldeneye and Half Life which led to Halo and COD. Those are probably the most influential fps of all time. I'll throw in honorable mentions to Duke and Bioshock. Out of COD, Battlefield and Rainbow Six, I'll go with COD.
Yeah I personally don't care about all that, because, to me, FPS games inherently derive value from their multiplayer components. It's the only thing that matters as far as I'm concerned. So those the games I listed above are the only important ones to me. None of the games you listed ever had the impact that CS, UT, CoD have had on the multiplayer landscape. Like I said. As far as multiplayer FPS go: -CS was the single most important FPS game from a historical standpoint. -Unreal was the second most important considering the impact the unreal engine has had on gaming the past decade plus -CoD/Halo(I group halo as an unreal byproduct) are the third most important due to bringing console FPS gaming into modernity.
It's a little silly how the thread premise asks three FPS yet there's an option for other. Anybody still playing CS:GO? I started it up again the other day.
So I'm gonna guess you never actually played quake and goldeneye, because they were the godfathers of the multiplayer deathmatch. So you are just flat out wrong to say they didn't matter. Doom and Wolfenstein were the first major FPS's period, so you can't just ignore them either. Genre had to walk before it could run.
