The thread Jerk running the stop sign thread made me think of some of my favorite commercials or commercial campaigns of all-time because of the Holliday Inn reference. I don't know if this thread has been done before except for the Superbowl Commercial thread but what are some of your favorite commericals. The "It's always important to get a good night's rest" campaign by Marriot Courtyard used to crack me up all the time. You know with the jockey trying to get on the horse, or the reporter who is fiddling with his mic and misses his cue to start. I think my all-time favorite commerical series were the Mars Blackmon and Michael Jordan spots by Nike. Those were classic with Jordan dunking and Spike Lee playing the irritating Mars.
Classic. I believe it's a commercial for a football video game that claims to have hits so hard "your mama's mama will feel it" where this old lady is grocery shopping and suddenly gets knocked back into a display.
no matter how many times i see it, i always laugh at the cedric the entertainer bud light commercial. just sound that the poodle makes when it hits the car roof is hilarious. also the sprint pcs commercial where the girls are fighting over the phone was funny. most realistic commercial...?... it was a while ago. the two women in the suvs that were racing for the parking place in the grocery store lot?
All Macintosh commercials are good. Most Coca Cola commercials are very classy. The "Mean Joe Green and the Kid" one was the all-time classic. MacDonald's "Kobe and the kids" is pretty good too -- if only they could use a basketball player I like! The funniest to me are the Budweiser frogs, and the "Where's the beef" old lady ran by Wendy's about a decade ago.
My new favorite print ad was in this months Maxim. It's for MGM DVD's and it has a pic from Showgirls where what's her face is licking the stripper pole and in big white letters, it says (ALL PRAISE THE INVENTOR OF "SLO-MO") Then under that it has the dvd's of Show Girls, Killing Me Softly (just found out that you can see Heathe Graham naked in this ), Wild Orchid, Body of Evidence, and Original Sin. Above them, in yellow letters, it says "ENJOY. YOU HAVE OUR PERMISSION." That's great marketing.
Jack in the Box. The one where the guy has to go to Philadelphia to learn about a Philly Cheese Steak, and he comes back acting like he was born and raised there. "Yo Jackie! I soaked up Philly like a SPONGE." Then he macks on the woman there. "How you doin'?"
Which one has that convienence store owner dancing with Shakira? She looks really hot in that one. That would be my favorite at the moment....
I think that's a Pepsi commercial. Speaking of which, I kind of liked the one with Ozzy and the Osmonds.
Some of the most brilliant ones I've heard are the "Real American Heroes" for Bud Light (I think). Of course, these heroes are usually people like the 'Parking Attendant Flashlight Guy' who uses a flashlight to guide cars to safety, etc. They had some other hilarious ones but I forgot what they were.
I agree... Jack in the Box commercials are the best...Also the one with Jack's son playing football...Too bad they don't have any in Albuquerque, NM... I also liked the Nike one with LJ..."Grandmama"
"Why do they do that? Don't they see that their friends are getting zapped?" "I don't know. They must be stupid." "Whoa!" *Distracted by the glow from the Mountain Dew LiveWire stand* *Walk towards display and crash into glass* One of the few commercials that's made me laugh in a long time. I'm also a fan of the Terry Tate: Office Linebacker commericals.
you guys should be ashamed of yourselves. how on earth can you leave out... SHORT AND STUBBY or UGLY MAN! or DANCE! or INNER YOU!
They changed the name after 9-11 to "Real Men of Genius". I really laughed at one I heard a few months ago - called "Mr. Fancy Coffee Shop Coffee Pourer" (I looked it up after seeing your post). The line I laughed at was by the announcer: "What do you do when you have a masters degree in art history? You get a nose ring and pour coffee for a living." Yes, I have an MA (and growing) in art history. Here is an audio archive from the ad agency.
I don't know how I forgot these. "Leather seats, automatic, transmission, nowadays people call this stationwagon a truck"
