With christmas less than a week away I was just thinking about the christmas gifts I received in the past. My parents never celebrated christmas they felt it was a christian/american holiday but not wanting my sister and I to be left out they would buy us each one gift at christmas time every year. We didnt have a christmas tree or anything but they would leave a present on the fireplace mantle and we would have to wait till at least christmas eve to open it. My favorite gift I received was Soundwave transformers toy when I was in first grade. I remember it vividly because I went to the fireplace (when i still believe in santa) hoping for a toy and all there was there was an apple. I started to cry because I thought all I got was an apple for christmas. then my dad was like oh I forgot to put your gift out (which then shattered my belief in santa). thats when he brought it out. I was surprised my parents even knew I loved transformers and knew which one I wanted the most, but they did. A few years later the toy broke but I still kept it until I was in 10th grade when my parents sold it at our garage sale, by then I couldnt fix it anyway one of the pieces physically broke and there was no real way to mend it.
For me birthdays, christmas, valentine day gifts are beginning to get jumbled up and I can't remember which one is which anymore. I do remember xmas gifts are rarely huge ones since money is being spread out by so many people by others so this year's gift was quite a nice surprise. The g/f got me a logitech harmony one and I couldn't be happier
I think the present I was most excited about ever was when I got my Nintendo. I was a little behind the curve, I got it in '88 or '89, after most people had already had one for a couple of years, so I had really been wanting one for a long time.
Synsonic Drums, 4th grade. The pre-cursor to my first drum kit which I got for my birthday the following summer.
surprisingly it was my Xbox my sister gave me back in 2001, when I was 19, heh proabably because it came out of nowhere, my sister is one of those that is budget with her money and was joking with her to get me an Xbox knowing she'd never get it for me, and sure enough she did, I thanked her endlessly since it was tough to get one since that was the first holiday season for the system. 5 years later, she gave me a hard time after I sold it on craigslist as a kid, probably getting my Super NES and Game Boy 2 different years, back when my parents were still doing the whole santa clause phase for me
from my sis fiance, Stack24 wasnt old enough to remember everythin but some parts (3 at the time), so he brought it all to me
