Inspired by Manny's top 5 bands of all time, who are your favorites? Just list top 5 and don't list "who is best," just who are your favorites. "Best" is too damn subjective anyway. Oh, and BANDS ONLY!!! No solo artists or band leaders - ex. Dave Matthews Band or Jimi Hendrix experience would be classified as solo artists in this category. 1. Beatles 2. Led Zepplin 3. Van Halen 4. U2 5. Rush (Honorable mentions: Tears for Fears, Jellyfish, XTC, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Ten Hands, the Police) Off the top of my head...
1. The Police 2. Dave Matthews Band (they're not a "band"??) 3. Ten Hands 4. Weezer 5. Ben Folds Five
1. Pink Floyd 2. Pearl Jam 3. Smashing Pumpkins 4. Outkast 5. The Smiths couldnt really think of a 5th one so i just put something.
I distrust anyone who claims to be a pop/rock music fan and doesn't put the Beatles at number one. Either they're trying to be hip or they're idiots. There are albums better than Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper, The White Album, Revolver, Rubber Soul, and A Hard Day's Night...but no one has six albums that good. I find it impossible to compile a list after the Beatles, since they're the only band I'm familiar with that equaled its large quantity of output with quality. But that's just me.
1. Led Zeppelin 2. Black Sabbath 3. The Who 4. Humble Pie 5. Allman Brothers Honorable Mention: Deep Purple Kinks BTO Little Feat Van Halen Adding to your list of disallowed: Carlos Santana
no pah-tik-ya-lah oar-duh... Wu Tang Clan- best as a band although all individ albums were cool. gza's album was best. Stone Temple Pilots- just a bunch of bad arse tunes from'em Radiohead- just weird stuff that i like to listen to as mood music. (btw manny... whenever i get a cd, i usually listen to the more popular tunes on it for a few months then put it to the side for a year or two only to pop it into the cd player again and listen to all of the songs. i did this with the romeo and juliet soundtrack and noticed this track from radiohead on there called "talk show host". cool tune. Coldplay- every single song on both albums is the schit. Junior Mafia- biggie, mase, lil' cease, kim... all so different.
rudager i think your saying what you think is the "best" band of all time. which i love the beatles to. but as jeff said this is favorite. and for me that means memories and from the 5 i mentioned i have a ton of them.
whoa, so that takes out Marley and Dylan. I guess I'll have to put in Pink Floyd and The Beatles in their place, but I', not happy about it
1. Led Zeppelin 2. Stone Temple Pilots 3. Nirvana 4. 311 5. A bunch of ties including Soundgarden, CCR, Metallica, RHCP, Bush and more...
I remember Miles Copeland talking about Sting's band and saying, "Look, if Sting doesn't come to the gig, who is going to come see just the band play? No one. But, if Sting shows up and you guys don't, who will show up? Everyone. It doesn't mean I don't think you are brilliant musicians. It doesn't mean I don't love you as people..." I guess my point is that if the primary songwriter is also the guy who's name is on the band, it is likely he could go on with a completely different band and still be successful. The Beatles couldn't have done that, for example.
1. Pink Floyd 2. The Cure 3. Led Zeppelin 4. Radiohead 5. Smashing Pumpkins Honorable Mentions - Soundgarden, Nirvana, Joy Division/New Order, The Smiths, Black Sabbath (only with Ozzy), the Clash, Operation Ivy, Nine Inch Nails (although it really is only Reznor), early REM, early U2, Sigur Ros, Kraftwerk, Cocteau Twins, the Cult, Coldplay, Blondie, the Buzzcocks, the Beatles, and *gulp*, the Bee Gees.
1) Pink Floyd 2) Tool 3) Radiohead 4) Led Zeppelin 5) Alice in Chains Honorable mention: Metallica, GNR
Or maybe they're (gasp) just not into them. 1) Bon Jovi 2) Van Halen 3) Queen 4) Aerosmith 5) No Doubt
1. New York Dolls / Thunders 2. Rolling Stones 3. Ramones 4. Replacements 5. Black Sabbath 6. Led Zepplin 7. The Jam 8. Iggy and the Stooges 9. Dictators 10. Def Leppard
