Just got back from a quick 2 day business trip. I had to fly American; it was my first time flying them. I didn't really care for them mainly because I kept getting the damn middle seat (seat E). Also, coming home there was no snack on the flight from El Paso to Dallas. Not to mention on the way out there Sunday (to New Mexico), they screwed up our luggage - something about the wall breaking and they had to reweigh all the luggage or some ****. We were on the Dallas runway for 45 minutes. But it was better than damn Delta - boy do those clowns suck! Southwest, by far, is my favorite - they just do everything right and they do it well. About the only other one I have flown is US Airways and they weren't bad but nothing special. What are people's favorite airlines? Anybody got some horror stories to share with a certain airline?
American Airlines is all I fly. I get AA miles for both a business credit card and a home one. I have over 250,000 miles available right now, and am a platinum member with over 65,000 points this year...on my way to executive platinum. I hate the travel, but flying first class ROCKS !! DD
You put Continental as "other"? Isnt' it one of the biggest ones now? SW and Continental are like the only profitable ones, I think.
Definetly other.... I fly KLM (royal Dutch Airlines) all the time. But Brittish Airways has been the nicest. But the reason I fly KLM is that BA makes you change airports in London when flying from the middle east to USA.
I voted Delta, but only as the least worst of the domestic carriers. I'd have to say that overall Austrian airways is the best, service-wise at least. Emirates probably has the best aircraft currently and they definitely have the best lounges by far. I mean their lounges are everything you could hope for short of your own personal hairem I've heard very good things about South African and Aer Lingus too. I also heard Malaysian has the hottest air hostesses
I don't find anything 'royal' about KLM in the least......but that Schiphol airport in Amsterdam definitely has the best duty-free shopping in Europe!
You are probably right but I have only flown Southwest, Delta, US Airways, and American, so my knowledge of the others is lacking.
Uh, Manny, you put Continental grouped in the "other" category? They are a Houston-based airline and are the airline that most people on here are probably the most familiar with. Very amateurish poll considering the audience. Supermac - Continental is losing money hand over fist, as are all of the legacy carriers. To my knowledge only Southwest and Jet Blue are profitable from a net income perspective.
If I had to vote for a US based airline here, I'd vote for Continental among the mainline carriers. They have the most liberal upgrade policy for elite members. I've also flown American and Delta extensively (elite status on both) and I don't like them as much. The extra legroom in coach on AA is kinda nice - but it's still a coach seat. Delta either means flying through Atlanta (bigtime pain) or on a regional jet through Cincy, neither of which I care for. Their upgrade policy requires these idiotic 500 mile segment points. I've had too many bad experiences with United at O'hare in the winter. I've also flown US Air probably 10 times and America West twice, and I don't really have an opinion on them one way or the other. Southwest isn't known for luxury, but they are cheap and used to have the best ontime performance, although that has slipped of late. I think the consensus is that Jet Blue has the nicest offering for the average flyer. Direct TV for each seat is pretty sweet. On the international side, I've flown Aeromexico, Mexicana, Lufthansa, KLM, Scandinavian Airlines and Alitalia. No real opinions there, except for Scandinavian had hot babes working there.
But I can sleep easier tonight since you used "amateurish". Maybe Clutch doesn't need to institute the voting option on threads in the Hangout when we have bigtexxx around to critique them.
Not to mention the Casino in the airport is pretty damn fun, that's where I waste most of my time. KLM isn't great, but man. Some of those "giant" stewardists are HOT. Man....I'm still buzzed from the beer.
