You know the players who dominated in the 80's. The "Golden era" of the NBA...Superstars...Whatever you want to call them. What is your starting line-up of players who were at their peak during the 80's...(Does Hakeem count?) Mine: 5. Hakeem 4. Charles Barkley 3. Larry Bird 2. Micheal Jordan 1. Magic Johnson also in your opinion what has the NBA got that is better now than 15-20 years ago and vice verse.. (i.e. better athleticism now, better shooters then)
Although Dream, Barkley, and Jordan fit in the 80's well, they were at their peak in the 90's I think.
Hakeem Mo Malone Bird Jordan Magic Although...I've often thought of moving Hakeem to the 3. So Jabbar Mo Malone Hakeem Jordan Magic That's a nice defense. Right up there with my all-time favorite team, the cheated and champion Pistons. Rockets champs second. Daly was my hero. I loved my Rockets, and thought Rudy did a good job picking up some of Daly's idea, but geez ... he's no Chuck Daly. Hakeem was more underdog and more deserving of individual love than any Piston, of course. Daly's team d was just awesome to watch. Really got you pumped up about d. Champ Rox picked some of that up and ran with it.
Favorite: 1-Magic 2-Dr. J 3-Worthy 4-Barkley 5-Hakeem Best (during the 80's) 1-Magic 2-Michael 3-Bird 4-McHale 5-Kareem
Considering I was born in the mid-80's, I don't know much about 80's basketball. However, I will have a go at this: 1-Magic 2-Clyde (he played in 80's right? maybe not well though.) 3-Bird (don't really like him, but can't think of another sf.) 4-Barkley 5-Hakeem To be honest, I mainly copied from some of the other lists since I don't know much. As for the other question, I believe more players today are bigger and more skilled than even the not so far 80's. Although they were better shooters, many players are very versatile. (although probably the most versatile player was in the 80's, Magic.) You see 7 footers today dribbling and passing like guards. Just apart of the evolution of basketball I guess. Yea my first post back from vacation!
