But if you do not have plans this Saturday me and a bunch of buddies are getting together for a "mini-mission". We started a group called Mysterious Wayz and are going out once a month somewhere around Houston to spend a day working and sweating in service of a place in need. It might be a church or a family or a strip of highway...who knows. But we will meet up at 7:00 AM at the Starbucks by Willowbrook Mall this Saturday ready to work. Please check out our website at www.mysteriouswayz.org, it has all of the information about who we are and what we do. There will be no over the top Christian hype and rhetoric, just fellowship and work. All are invited. Chance
One of the most noble pursuits of religion - service. During the arena campaign back in 2000, we did an open house at campaign headquarters. There was a bunch of food left over - hot dogs and that sort of thing. One of the main campaign guys and I took it down under the Pierce Elevated to a bunch of homeless guys. It was freezing out so we bought them coffee and I had a bunch of blankets I had used to move my sister-in-law to a new apartment, so I handed them out. A few minutes after we got there, a bus full of kids from a church in the Woodlands pulled up and started giving out clothes, blankets, pre-made lunches and other things. It was great.
I can't do it this weekend, but be sure to let us know when you do it again. I would love to take part. Provided kilts aren't a requirement. Seriously, good work buddy.
we elected to go with the Crusader theme because I thought it looked cool. We are so stoked about this...
What you guys are doing is awesome, Chance. We need more people like you in this world. On a side note, if I didn't 'know' you, and stumbled upon that website, I wouldn't be able to look past my white knights vibe to that whole website.
There are 3 Starbucks at Willowbrook. One IN Willowbrook...one in the Commons across 1960 and one across 249 near Texas Land and Cattle.
Thanks for the heads up. Maybe we will tone down the whole Excalibur thing. And regarding the note about BC...One of our buddies in Alabama is starting a Alabama Chapter and a buddy in College station is starting one there. It's a cool concept. There are so many guys and gals out there that want to do something but always find a reason not to. "I can't travel to Honduras for 10 days" "I want to donate but I don't have the money" "I don't know anybody there" "they are just after my $$$" I could list a hundred reasons. We started this thing to escape those excuses. We don't want your money. We want your sweat. We don't want your excuses. We want your ass to work for those less fortunate. If you have cash great, bring it, I'm sure we'll need to buy some stuff like paint and such (and anything left over we are leaving at the church/residence/etc...) but if not nobody cares because this isn't about money. And it's not about recognition. I am part of this group because I believe it's a good idea and will feel rewarded for working once a month. We put the line in there about "we have no leader other than..." because there is no bureaucratic sturcture to screw things up. We go, we work, we leave, 'nuff said. I would love to seem some of my homeys from the board out there. If not June then July, or August. And if anyone from a different town wants to start one feel free. Let me know or don't. If you need the artwork I'll get it to ya.
www.volunteerhouston.org I deliver meals on wheels about once a month, I've done art projects with children at Memorial Hermann, and I volunteer at the Superfeast every Thanksgiving. I do it because it makes me feel good about myself to help out people that are less fortunate than myself. I especially like working the Superfeast on Thanksgiving. Chance, you might want to talk to Memorial Hermann about doing an art thing with the kids. It's a fantastic experience.
the guy reading the scripture is the guy from MMP. Bob ford. He rules. The other guy is ironically heard on GTA San Andreas, and here and there on SR610
