This is not only MY fantasy off season, but the whole world of rockets' fans. LOOK: 1. Steve Francis and Mo Taylor get traded to Chicago for Kirk Hinrich and Eddy Curry. 2. We pick up T-Mac from free agency due to the spare money we have from trading Steve and Mo. 3. Boki Nachbar improves his shot. 4. We pick up Drew Gooden in Free agency so T-mac dosent feel alone. 5. Yao adds 20 pounds of muscle to his body so he can actually DOMINATE the west. Projected Line-up *- denotes starter #-denotes equal playing time PG- Kirk Hinrich*, Mike Wilks SG- Tracy McGrady*, Cat SF- Boki Nachbar#, Jimmy Jackson# PF- Eddy Curry*, Drew Gooden, Clarence Weatherspoon C- Yao Ming*, Kelvin Cato This line-up would be Unstopable, and it would be the youngest line-up.
1. Steve Francis and Mo Taylor get traded to Chicago for Kirk Hinrich and Eddy Curry. That deal doesn't work under the cap. You're off by about $13M in salary. 2. We pick up T-Mac from free agency due to the spare money we have from trading Steve and Mo. T-Mac has another year left on his contract. He's not a free agent. 4. We pick up Drew Gooden in Free agency so T-mac dosent feel alone. Gooden isn't a free agent either.
1. Van Gundy comes up gimp in the throat due to all of the tounge lashings he has handed out this year and can't resume coaching for Houston anymore. 2. Rudy steps back in and fires Ewing and then brings back Mr. Mean. 3. Yao Ming gets traded to Chicago for Tyson Chandler and their #1 pick Emka Okafor 4. The Rockets trade Cuttino, Cato and Nachbar to Seattle for Rashard Lewis and Ray Allen. Steve will finally get his chance to shine at the 2 spot like so many of you have wanted for years. 5. Calvin Murphy is found not guilty. 6. The Rockets win the championship next year.
He's a 7th grada!!!!!! Wait til you hit puberty before you post another thread dude, this is getting annoying.
My dream off season: Rasheed Wallace decides to come here. Three team deal of some sorts. We get RW, Detroit gets a small forward they need (Jalen Rose?) and some Eastern Conference team desperate for a big man gets Cato. Brent Barry decides to take our midlevel exception. Boki improves his overall game. Francis improves his jump shot. Yao Ming becomes a mean son of a b**** and wants to slap people for fun. Lineup: Yao Ming Rasheed Wallace Jim Jackson Steve Francis Brent Barry Maurice, Weatherspoon, Eric, Bok and CAT from one of the best benches in the league. woo hoo!!
My perfect scenerio: Rockets trade Francis and Taylor to Seattle for Ray Allen and Brent Barry. Rockets trade Nachbar and 2005 #1 pick to Orlando for Drew Gooden. The guy just needs the right situation and I think the Rockets would be a perfect fit for him. He can knock down the jumper and is nasty on the boards when he wants to be. JVG would be a good coach for him with his no-nonsense attitude. PG: Barry/M.Jackson/Wilks SG: Allen/Cuttino SF: J.Jackson/A.Griffin PF: Gooden/Weatherspoon C: Yao/Cato This team would be straight up nasty. Efficient (low turnovers/high FG%), non-selfish backcourt. Gooden brings the all-around PF we've been looking for. He has an offensive game that rivals Taylor's and has the shot blocking ability that Taylor sorely lacks. We lose athleticism but we gain the skills that murdered us this past season. If we can't get Gooden, I'd like us to get PJ Brown. Thoughts?
I would love to see Yao Ming get slap happy on some mugs. These hands are made for slapping, and that's just what the'll do, one of these days Yao Ming will smack the $hit right out of you. I'd say that's a hit.
i'm telling you that rumor a couple of days ago was too good to be true. seattle gives us a pick too. man... i'd almost throw in a pick (second rounder of course) wouldn't it be cool to have a first rounder once in a while though? also -- Gooden is not good. i've had it with tweeners... yao needs a regulator, not a 3 stuck in a 4's body. plus boki has upside... why not keep him another year.
not to mention... Gooden a shot blocker? man we're not in Kansas anymore. also, you've got to wonder if he'll ever play a full season in his career.
6'10 242 lbs is a tweener? The guy can block shots.. I believe he had 5 in a game this year. This is on a team that plays zero team defense. He just needs a scenerio where he can play a role. If the price is right.. get him.
I believe that when Gooden first came in the league, he was going to be a SF, then a PF and now a C. He might be 242, but he looks like a skinny 242. Gooden is your prototypical tweener IMO
The only reason he played SF and C is because Juwon Howard was in the line-up with him. He is a true PF.. too slow to play SF(cant shoot 3's) and not big enough to play center. 6'10 240 is ideal for the PF.
Interesting blurb from today's Chronicle: AROUND THE LEAGUE Gooden could be available -- While the Rockets are shopping for a full-time power forward, they shouldn't leave Drew Gooden out of the debate. He might not be enough of an upgrade. But he is young and tough enough to be worth consideration. The mix of Gooden and Juwan Howard was a disaster in Orlando. Howard could not play center, and Gooden was no small forward. "I'm sure there's a way we can have both Juwan and Drew come back next year, but I think it's fair to say that that's a chemistry issue and a maximizing-your-resources issue," Magic GM John Weisbrod said. "The way it looked this season, it would be less than ideal to put ourselves in that position again." http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistor.../bk/bkn/2544574 Could the Rockets obtain Gooden for as little as the trade exception and a #1 pick (in 2005)? If the Magic trade Gooden, and another salary, such as DeClercq, to the Rockets for the TE plus a pick(s), they would free up approximately $6 million. This would put them approx. $12 million under the cap, and make them major players in the free agent market this summer. If we could pull off this trade, we could keep our core, and add a 22-year-old pure talent at our weakest position.
My fantasy (yet hopefully realistic) scenario. Francis and mobley are traded somehow We get Stromile Swift and either Ginoboli or Doug Christie who starts at the point. We pick up a small forward who hustles like James Posey Boki feeds off of Jordan's mystical energy in the offseason The cheap, risk free roster would then be : Christie Jim Jackson Posey Swift Yao and on the bench, Cato, Boki, MoT and mark jackson.
Realistic Fantasy Starters: Steve Francis T-Mac Nachbar R. Wallace Yao Bench: Jim Jackson Rashard Lewis Mo Taylor Mike Wilks Malick Badiane Our 2nd Round Draft pick + Free Agents
Les sells team to Mattress Mac. Yao becomes a MONSTER at the asian games and comes back bigger, stronger and nasty. He throws down and shoots over his opponents. He begins to shout "GIMME DA BALL, MON!" JVG gets an ulcer, retires. Phil Jackson new head coach. CD retires. Jerry West comes over from Memphis. He begins dealing. Francis and Taylor for Allen, Barry, pick. Cato for Marshall TE for Harpring MCE for Arroyo and Ostertag just for fantasy - Cat for Wilcox Yao/Ostertag Marshall/ Wilcox Harpring / Nachbar Allen / JJ Barry / Arroyo I still need to unload Pike and AG. Slots 13, 14, and 15 up for grabs. I'd like Tmo in there. Yao shoots 65%. Allen shoots 48%. Barry shoots 48%. Harpring shoots 50%. Marshall shoots 45%. Rockets score like crazy. Wilcox is enforcer. In Western conference finals, Rockets crush San Antonio with an unstoppable scoring attack. In NBA finals, Yao posterizes Ben Wallace.
Realistic? How the hell do you get T-mac without giving up Francis? Another problem is, Steve, T-mac and Rasheed on the same team? We become an allstar team that wins a lot of games, but has no identity and fails in the playoffs. T-mac should definitely be the number one option, Yao number two. So what becomes of Steve and Rasheed's talents? We leave em to suffocate?
