NEED 1-3 Fantasy hoops auction league (keepers starting next yr)

I've been running this league since about 1997.. we still have a good number of the same owners that we've had since day 1.

We're switching it all up this year, though...auction format draft, reset of the keepers (everyone's starting from scratch), and keepers will be based on auction values

It's also gonna be a points league rather than based on categories.

    $25 entry fee

Draft on Sunday...will start sometime between 3 and 9 pm EST (TBD very soon)

Let me know if you're interested.. will need between 1 and 3 people depending on if it works out with 2 guys who are hoping to come back. Looking for someone who is active and is trying to stay in it longer than just this year if possible!

What exactly is the difference between a points league and a category league? I'm confused. What is yahoo! considered?

How does the auction work exactly? If I join I will dedicate some serious time to a league that has keepers. So I want max info. Not sure I want to dedicate the time.

so basically you get $200 to bid with (as does everyone else in the league). You have 10 starting slots (PG SG SF PF C G F UTIL UTIL UTIL) and 3 bench slots to fill with the $200

You bid against each other throughout the draft in order to fill your slots. You must keep at least $1 for each slot on your bench. So you could see someone spend $70 on 2 different guys, $40 on another, and then be relegated to mostly $1 pickups towards the end of the draft...if they choose to go with a strategy like that (probably not too smart in basketball)

When it comes time for keepers, the hope/plan is for us to utilize a system that will allow keepers to be based on auction values (i.e. you can keep up to, say, $70 worth of keepers--whether you want that to be 2 studs, a couple of undervalued guys and a few guys you expect to be good next year, or what...would be up to you). Though as of now, ESPN had me specify a number of keepers...hopefully next year, we will find a system that works better (or ESPN will support auction value-based keepers).

That makes for interesting trades...if you're out of it, maybe you trade your higher priced guys for young guys who look promising, or sleepers who panned out and have good auction values.

The plan is also to have keeper "under contract" for up to 3 years, at which point you could extend them once for an increase based on the length of the extension. That won't come into play this year or next year, so I plan on tweaking that system and getting it right before it matters to us..

yeah, it's really not as complex as it sounds. But it's more intense and fun than a regular league, and involves more thinking than a regular keeper league.

please let me know tomorrow if possible so I can get back to someone else who was asking (but I am fine waiting till tomorrow)

geez calm down, so i glossed over your question. i'm not sitting here looking at this thread all day. i apologize for missing it.

anyway, points league means you're going head to head and you get a # of points for each trackable stat that's used. For example, each point scored = 1 pt, each rebound = 3 pts, etc. Then you total the # of points according to that scoring system for each of your starters during the week...and that is your team total.

Yahoo takes each category and says "which team got more of that category?" and gives you 1 point for winning the category. So it boils down to "who wins more categories". It's a different type of game.

Holy crap super long day at work. Alright I realized the draft time probably isn't the best for me so I will bow out. If you do not fill that spot in the meantime get back to me via email early Sunday and I will see if I can make arrangements. Sorry for the late response.
