Semi Final game, Head to Head league on yahoo.

I lead 5-4 going into the final day with an 11 assist lead and a small FT pct margin, the only undecided categories.

    His men

    Jeff Foster
    Mike Bibby
    Kenny Thomas
    Troy Murphy

    My men

    Jamaal Magloire
    Tim Thomas
    Pau Gasol
    Joel Pryzbilla

Bibby and Thomas start off scorching, but not many assists. Bibby adds a couple garbage assists to make their combined total 9.
Foster snags 12 boards, but not a single dime. Magloire and Thomas collect DNPs for me.

So I enter the final matchup with Gasol and Pryzbilla going up against Troy Murphy. What I need is for Gasol and Pryzbilla to do is to get no more than 1 less assist than Murphy.

Then I remember I'm leading by a thin FT pct margin, and recall Pryz is a ****ty ft shooter. So in a strategic move I bench Joel to preserve the percentage.

    Gasol vs Murphy
Murphy in his last 5 games averaging 1.3 assists per game.
Gasol in his last 5 averaging 3.4 assists per game.

I need Pau to just get no more than 1 less assist than Murphy and to hold on to my FT percentage.

Pau ends the game with only 2 assists. I am a little disappointed but still remain hopeful Murphy won't be so charitable with the rock. Plus Pau shot 6-6 from the line and combined with Foster going 1-2 for a 50 pct finish, It looks like I barely hold on to that category for the win.

Benching Pryzbilla didn't really amount to much, he had no ft attempts and 0 assists, so It didn't matter either way.

I check the yahoo boxscore. Murphy with 3 assists. Score Reads something like Golden State 94 San Antonio 89. I rejoice. Then...
I realize it is only the end of the 3rd Quarter. 5 minutes left in the game, Murphy passes to Baron Davis who cans a 3. Boom. 4 dimes from that big tall piece of ****ing **** stiff from Notre Dame. The game ends up going into 2 more overtimes, some how Murphy reverts back to his greedy self and ends with 4.

Salt in the wound. The matchup ends 4-4-1. I don't know what the tiebreaking precedures are for yahoo, but they award the other guy the win even though I beat him both times we faced off in the regular season (5-4 both times). We finished with 132 assists each and I held on to the free throw percentage by 6 thousandths of a percentage. The b*stard finally got me.

    mother....

    ****er.
