A pair of Olympic gold medalists, Ray Allen and Jason Kidd; the NBA's 2002 Most Valuable Player, Tim Duncan; as well as the NBA's current leading scorer for the 2002-03 season and the NBA's 2001 Most Improved Player, Tracy McGrady are the first four players named to the 2003 USA Men's Senior National Team. Good selections, though I think Allen is a little too one dimentional. The remaining 8: Kobe Shaq Webber Andre Miller Garnett Iverson J. O'Neal Antoine Walker Darkhorses: Marion, Amare Stoudemire, Michael Finley, Marbury, Mobley, Brand, and Payton... Nope, Steve won't be on the team due to Stu Jackon's vendetta against him...
Andre Miller doesn't deserve a spot on that team. I don't care how many assists he gets, he can't win to save his life. The Clippers have enought talent yet they still blow, and I mean they blow hard.
ray allen is great for the team. the team doesn't all multitalented payers; a great shooter like allen is fantastic especially in this kind of competitions. remember zone defense is allowed. my selections: kidd francis AI kobe mcgrady pierce allen duncan garnett j. o'neal shaq wallace 13th - why not add lebron james to the team like christian laetner?
if players chosen HAD to go, i think this is who you would see on the team: shaq duncan garnett kobe kidd B.davis t-mac pierce J.o'neal wallace lebron some college player
LeBron doesnt deserve to be on the team he hasnt proven himself on any level except high school. I am sure he will be a great player but wait till he plays against nba players who know how to play defense (at least some of them) and see how he does. There are many other players in the league right now much more deserving to play on the olympic squad.
christian laetner didn't belong to be on the original and only dream team. nevertheless, he was on the team. so, why can't lebron be on the team?
Shaq won't play so your squad basically have 7 guards, 2 forwards and 2 converted centers (Duncan and Wallace). Not a good mix.
Baron Davis didnt even make the all-star team this year(I think). So, why would he be on the Dream Team if they HAD to go?
The remaining 1 or 2 spots are designated for college athletes. Why was Laettner not worthy after 4 years of ACC competition? Or maybe you think ST V - ST M plays a tougher schedule than Duke? For every Kobe or KG there are about 10 Leon Smiths. Given that the league wants young athletes to be go to and remain in college, selecting LeBron James sends a message contrary to this intent.
Here is my Dream Team..... Guards-Kidd, Bryant, Francis, Iverson, and Payton Forwards- McGrady, Garnett, Pierce, J. O'Neal, and Webber Centers-Duncan and Wallace I think that this team has enough scoring and is athletic enough to have one hell of a press. Duncan, Wallace, O'Neal, Webber, and Garnett will keep the paint under control and the rest of the team is soooo fast. Outside shooting might be a problem (doubtfull). I would actually put LeBron on the team just to have a support group of the best players in the world for his first couple of years.
