The first one did well enough to warrant a sequel? I haven't seen the first but it got such bad reviews. It's way down there on my queue list.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Super-hero movies usually don't warrant sequels unless they do outstandingly well at the box office, see Batman, X-Men, and Spider-Man. I never heard any positive reviews about the first one and if I remember correctly the first one wasn't a box office bang either. Oh well, I don't plan to watch either. :)

it wasn't on par with x-men or spiderman, but the first one was still a decent movie... it did $56 million in its opening weekend, and it snapped the year to date comparitive sales. the whole industry was slumping for something like 3-4 months before F4 was released.

Well, there was that other comic book movie with the dude who dresses up like a bat that came out a few weeks before Fantastic Four. It did pretty well if I recall.

As for Fantastic Four 2, the teaser was pretty sweet, but as we've witnessed too many times in the past, trailers can be very misleading.

I actually didn't hate the first FF as much as some people. It wasn't much worse than X-Men 3 or Superman Returns. Dr. Doom sucked, but Michael Chiklis actually did some pretty decent acting as The Thing. Jessica Alba was awful though. That girl cannot act. And she ain't as hot as everyone says.

Umm... I thought Silver Surfer is a superhero? At least I thought he was....

btw, Chris Evans is one of the most underrated actors, he was born for this role.

The Silver Surfer started out as a bad guy....I think. Or at least a bad guy of sorts. I think he was serving some really bad guy....Galactus, I think, who ate whole worlds or some such thing.

The Surfer eventually realized the error of his ways and became a good guy at some point.

I can't remember all of the details, though. I'm sure one of the resident super hero experts will chime in with more info.

Silver Surfer was the herald of Galactus, who would scope out worlds for the World-Eater to come and consume (or at least so says my Ultimate Alliance game).

Silver Surfer is supposed to be the villain in this movie. Maybe it's setting up Galactus for the 3rd film(provided Fox greenlights another sequel).

As for Chris Evans, he's pretty good in the right role. He can definitely do comedy. I thought he was funny in Not Another Teen Movie. And I liked him in Cellular which is a really underrated flick.

definitely THE best movie that came out in 2004 that nobody saw. It had everything including Jason Statman as, what else?, a hitman, a older but still hottie Kim Basinger, few scenes with Jessica Biel, and a cameo by Last Comic Standing's Dat Phan. if none of you has seen this movie, watch it. although by the end of the movie, you'd think that Nokia paid for the movie with all of the advertisment, kinda like Nintendo being all over in the movie "The Wizard", yea, i need to buy that movie now :)

Sorry, but the girl is way too damn skinny. I'll admit she was hot in Idle Hands and was cute in Dark Angel, but it's been all downhill since then.

Whoa I can't believe I didn't see this one coming! I've always thought Silver Surfer was, by far, the coolest Marvel superhero.. followed by Captain Marvel.

I'm pretty excited, although the first one was just decent. I love superhero movies.. brings me back to childhood.

Btw, I thought it's pretty lame how Chris Evans have to say "flame on!" every time before he turns into the human torch. Sounds like something you would say in a JVG thread.

I loved FF. It was corny and Dr. Doom's 'powers' were totally off the mark, but it was good. It was a bonifide hit. And obviously if it was a bomb, they wouldn't be doing a sequel.

The trailer is awesome. I'll be there on opening day.
