This dude is always trying to find a way to get paid. He didn't even show up to some practices at UH when he was the coach.
All GM's would have to do is watch one NBA game with him announcing and they would run.. far far away!
All I can say is that I hope Rick is watching his cholesterol, getting his check ups, and taking one aspirin a day, but I do not, under any circumstances, want Drexler to ever coach the Rockets, ever.
I love Clyde... NBA and NCAA are different beasts; however, someone fill me in... Clyde couldn't stomach coaching young men @ UH, why would he want to coach rich young men and and grown men of the NBA
"Okay, outlet the ball and start the break. Whoever receives the outlet pass will start to dribble and not look up. You will not look up until you start an amazingly athletic move to the basket on the other end of the court." "What do the rest of us do, coach?" "What?" "I mean, if we aren't the guy who got the outlet pass?" "You make sure you are the guy who gets the outlet pass, dumbass!" "..."
I too was UH when Clyde began coaching there. It started off great. We beat UT on national TV in Hofheinz. I remember chatting up Calvin Murphy before the game. Then we promptly lost the next game to IUPUI and it all went downhill from there. It was sad. Bullard should be an NBA coach before Clyde.
It's hard enough for us to listen to him. How is he going to get manage to get the attention of people that are actually getting paid to hear him speak?
"Uh OH" If it's for our beloved rockets. "Yes!!!" if it's for another team. That means our broadcasters will only get better.
So does he expect that some NBA team will just give him a head coaching job, because of his playing credentials? Guys like Mario Elie and Sam Cassell are paying their dues as assistant coaches, hoping to one day be a head coach. Why does Clyde think he'll just be given the job on a silver platter?
