Well I was browsing the power rankings, and the Yahoo sports guys have us ranked at 11th. But then I glanced at who they had first and noticed it was the Clippers. I see no problem with them being ranked first, but reading the blurb raised my hackles! Of course our own 22 win Rockets were undefeated for a month. And Jordan's 72 win Bulls can also lodge their complaint. I don't trust my memory to recall all the long win streak teams and if they failed to lose in a month, so I checked it out really quickly, and found 2 other teams that had gone undefeated in DECEMBER (let alone any month): There was the Washington Capitols (1946) and the Celtics (59). Then there was the '95 Spurs, the '06 Mavs, the '64 Celtics who also managed to go undefeated for a month. Why is it so hard for them to give the Rockets any credit at all? Since Jordan won his first title, the only teams to go back to back are the Lakers and the Rockets. We're still talking about the Lakers and the Bulls all the time (despite the Bulls doing pretty much nothing since Michael), yet Houston [4th biggest city in America] rarely gets remembered. Yeah yeah, I know, get over it. Just wanted to vent.
I saw a stat on ESPN that those were the only teams to go 16-0 in a month. Maybe those other teams you mentioned only went 15-0... The latter part of that statement was incorrect, but I get what they were going for.
I think I remember hearing someone say undefeated in a month that includes 16 games, not just undefeated in general
Chicago goes relatively deep in the playoffs every year. Houston made it past the first round once in like 15 years. Winning will bring publicity. Just ask the Clippers.
Im fine with us not having any hype from the media. Look what it did to the Texans this season. Just relax and remember the ball dont lie
Oh right. My bad. So it has nothing to do with the fact the Clippers are in LA??? And that Blake can jump very high??? And the Bulls ALWAYS go deep in the playoffs, ever since Jordan finished there right??? I mean, from 1998 to the present they've been DEEP in the playoffs SO MUCH. [[They've made the playoffs 7 times in that span, been past the first round just twice, one losing in the second round, and once losing in the ECF. Chicago has had JUST 4 winning seasons out of those 14 years, combined record 43.9% wins (483-617)]] [[For comparison Houston is very similar, having made the playoffs 6 times and gone past the first round just the one time. Houston has had just 3 losing seasons out of 14, with a combined record of 53.6% (590-510)]] The very fact you think Chicago is a more successful team over that time frame shows how the media misconception plays its part! Houston has been far better, AND the Western Conference has been much harder that entire timespan (one wonders how many conference finals the Rockets would've made in that time frame had they been in the east...)
