Not from a site I'd put much stock in...basically it just updates players fantasy ball info, but nonetheless it states that the Rockets are pursuing D. Marshall...appears the asking price has been insane, but since the Raptors have no chance of signing him in the offseason I can't help but think the demands will decrease as the trade deadline nears.

This is my dream pickup.. above average rebounder, good shotblocker and a very good shooter(juwon's short/midrange game combined with Padgett's 3-pt shooting).. get him! I'd def give up a player and a 1st round pick to get him.

Theres no wayy id give up our first rounder. We need to start keeping our first rounders becuase they are an invistment in our future. W/ all the Ero player popping into the draft every year who knows maybe we can land another Peja or Ginobli...

I believe the Spurs have interest as well offering Malick Rose and also Miami offering Micheal Doleac. Would love to see the Rockets pick up Marshall, he is like a Scott Padgett that can block shots and rebound. Would be a perfect fit on an inside out type of team. Just don't know if the rockets have the assets to get him.

Well, just like any other trade that they may make, I hope either Howard or Taylor are involved, especially when we get back a player who can play their position. There is no need to bring in another forward without getting rid of one our over-priced we already have. Marshall would be a real good pickup. He can sub in very nicely either behind TMac at the 3 or play the 4. But, I wouldn't give up a 1st-rounder for him.

I really, really don't want to give up a 1st round pick.

But I have to say...this team would look pretty dangerous if they added Marshall.

For Rocket, the first rounder pick only means a cheaper young player in next 3 years. If we could get rid of Taylor's contract, I will trigger this trade with 1st pick without hesitation. After this season, we can use MLE to re-sign Marshall and the salary of Taylor to sign SS.

I guess I would agree. It's probably the only way to rid ourselves of one of the PFs' contracts. I would hope it is a future 1st instead of this year's, especially with all the good PF's that look like will be available in this draft.

Agreed. We really need to start adding some youth to the team. Giving up a 1st rounder while adding the risk that Marshall could just walk after the season is too much.

That is not a big problem if Taylor can be part of this trade. We need money to pursue Swift. with MLE, the other decent player is easily avaiable.

A 1st round pick under JVG probably would not see the light of day of the bench for the next couple of seasons. I am not for trading the pick away but if the right deal came along that could help surround your two young franchise players with a better than solid veteran, then I would consider it. Don't know if I would use it on Marshall, but definately in some sort of package for a Kwame Brown or Tyson Chandler.

There is no reason to give up the 1st rounder. The Rockets are not going to win the title this year. I'd rather stand pat on this year (unless we can find someone to take Mo Taylor), keep the pick, and build for the future.

This would be a great pickup.Marshall can play the 3 and 4.He gives us defense and rebounding, something we are obviously sorely lacking there.Donyell, also is a player that would know his role.I'd give them Taylor and a first rounder in a heartbeat.
We do this deal and we are contenders THIS year IMO.

Rockets have no assets besides Tmac and Yao. I don't see it happening.

Didn't somebody say that this guy is only the sixth man for the Raptors? What kind of asset could be demanded?

This year's draft is going to be one of the more talented and deeper drafts that we've seen in the past few years. Unless any proposed trade involving our 1st rounder is in a deal we CANNOT pass up (no brainer), I want to see us actually have a 1st round pick for once.

Donyell Marshall is NOT worth a 1st round pick, under any circumstances. He is a free agent at the end of the season so we could end up seeing the guy walk, along with our draft pick for a guy who would have given us about 7-8 PPG and 5-6 RPG a night---basically what we're already getting from Howard. And I don't see what motivation Toronto could possibly have to take Taylor off of our hands if the pick was involved. Bosh is their PF of the future, at least Marshall could play the 3 unlike Taylor. So where do you play your fat, overpaid and umotivated loser backup PF????

that is what I have heard too - I think, if anything, the might want to move up (no basis, just looking at the pool and reading articles on the draft). Even if the player sits for the first year, playing with some good vets like Sura and Wesley can't hurt

... and that puts another player in the pipeline for the future

also, I would add that I don't think JVG is against playing rookies - its just that Barrett is very short and Gaines is very below average

Boki is not setting the world on fire in NO

A no-brainer deal works two ways -- who is brought in and/or who goes. The right combo and bye-bye #1.
