I want to buy the family guy on dvd and I stumbled up this: http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=128449

It's a box set for all three seasons with an extra dvd of unreleased material. Unfortunately, I have only been able to find it in Region 2 dvd encoding and I'm unsure if it will play on all of my dvd players. Does anyone know anything about this box-set in a region 1 encoding. OR do any of the family guy season box-sets in the US have the unreleased and deleted scenes?

I just returned from living in France. I bought the box set from the UK when I was there.

My former roommate had all the seasons, but I just wanted one for myself.

The box set is actually pretty crappy other than being a box set. They removed all the extra features and put them on a single DVD. So basically, it's the same thing.

The ONLY thing new are "animatics", which are kind of cool, but not worth it if you already own seasons 1, 2, and 3.

Animatics are 28 short segments preiously unrealeased. They are only still shots in pencil with no color and a voice over. They were scenes that didn't make the cut. None of them were bad, but in my opinion, only 2 or 3 of them were very funny.

Also, I've read that some jokes were cut out b/c they were offensive. I've read that there were some, but I've only noticed one scene. On the Road to Rhode Island episode and Stewie and Brian are at the airport on their way home, but there's an x-ray machine, so Stewie sings some show tune that goes like "something sooommeeething, lolipop, something sooomeething, candyshop" (I've obviously forgotten the words). Anyhow, after he gets past security, on the original release he says "let's home Osama Bin Laden doesn't know show tunes". That got cut out because of 9/11 on this release.

So, don't get it if you have 1, 2, and 3 already. And besides, you'll need a region free or region 2 DVD player to make it work anyways.

Use Google to try to find a region free hack for your DVD player model.

On some players it's as easy as punching in a number combination with the remote control to unlock all regions.
