Maybe Avery, with his buttery smooth voice, can take Clyde's place as the Rockets TV announcer.

If this is true, I predict Avery Johnson gets a new job very soon. He's a good coach who's been saddled with a weak "superstar" in Dirk Nowitzki and a temperamental owner in Mark Cuban. Given the right, more-sane, environment I believe he can succeed.

Wow. If true, Cuban is a moron.

They don't have the talent they think they have anymore. They are led by a guy who folds in tough moments, and howard isn't an elite 2nd banana in the league. Of the rest of the team, they only have 5 guys worth minutes in kidd(declining), stackhouse(see kidd), terry, dampier(blah), and bass.

It used to be dallas was a deep athletic team. Not the case anymore.

Wow, he is 194-74 (.735) to start off his coaching career. I'm pretty sure that's the high winning% for any coach.

Coach of the Year two years ago just fired? Yeah, I think it's safe to say he'll find employment elsewhere.

A team like washington, toronto, or denver would be wise to hire avery if they want more postseason progression. Chicago is another possibility that would make sense.

Yea but he inherited a stacked team, let's see how his coaching career go from here

Personally, I never liked Avery. Although I'm a little hesitant to believe this article still...

Wow. There's no way that its his fault for the Mav's loss. Despite being overly cocky, this guy i think is one of the best coaches in the league. A rash decision by Cuban.

Cuban first trades away their immediate future, crashes a playoff, and now fires a decent coah. Burn Mavs, burn!

Avery can be stupid at times, but he just need to rid himself of his man-crush on Stackhouse. He is very solid, look at the win %.

    That was quick??!?!

WTF is the bleacherreport? Is this even a legit report? I'd imagine Cuban would have some more class and smarts to re-evaluate the situation then to fire Avery right after a loss?

there were rumors of johnson pushing to trade dirk and josh howard butting heads with avery. kidd wouldn't have been too happy at being benched earlier on.

del harris got too little credit, while avery has been overrated.

I hate the mavs, but I have no problems with Avery.

Avery did not want the trade for Jason Kidd. Hell, he wanted to trade Dirk, so he's a good man in my book.

you can't fire your players, but you can fire your coach.

Maybe Miami will pick him up.
