Wishful thinking for the rockets to finally take a crowdpleaser of a pick, but it makes sense.

Augustin was projected to go to the Pacers on most mocks, now they are set at pg. The next 4 or 5 teams have no need for a PG, and there's going to be a potential franchise PG just sitting there on the board...something that the Rockets have kinda needed for a long time.

It's feasible, and I think we'd all love to see it happen. An easy package including Brooks and our pick can be put together.

i'm assuming they are content with Beno Udrih, after the season he had. sounds like a given that he's going to be there for awhile.

If they're content with Udrih, then we're content with Alston.

why is everyone high about augustin?
Does not provide what is needed. Size at the backcourt.

The pacers traded a PG(Ford) but they are about to trade away a PG(Tinsley) too. So they might still draft a PG to fill the backup role!

it sounds like an option. if we traded for him. could then use brooks and battier/or scola/landry for a big upgrade over our PF or SF position. then you would have scola or landry off the bench or battier as your 6th man.

    you could have something like

    C yao ming
    PF elton brand
    SF battier
    SG tmac
    PG dj augustin

that would leave alston, scola or landry, novak, hopefully francis,

sooo brooks, landry, and head and next years 1st for brand probably not close to enough. but dang it something needs to happen.

I have to agree with Mango here. It sounds like the Rockets have traded up and taken him. There is no guarantee that a team like the Kings would settle in for Beno.

Your thread title implies that Augustin has slipped and that the Rockets have a trade brewing to take him by moving up some Unspecified Number of Slots.

Once I started reading the actual thread............I came to the conclusion that you made things up since no link and documentation was provided to support your assertions.

You even admitted that it is wishful thinking for the Rockets to take him.
It might please some of the UT part of the crowd, but it wouldn't please me to trade up for a small PG that I doubt will be a Potential Franchise PG.

Since I m opposed to that type of move, your statement:

...I think we'd all love to see it happen.

    is definitely incorrect.

Exactly how is it feasible? How many slots does Brooks + the current pick move the Rockets upwards? When will Augustin be drafted?

Your thought process is that the other party (team) in your trade scenario would be satisfied with a lesser PG, but the Rockets pick would be adequate salve to ease the pain. Brooks + the current pick might move the Rockets up five slots, but I would be surprised if that package moved them more than that.

NBA Draft 2008: College and International Basketball seems to be the more appropriate Forum.

How is your thread significantly different than this thread which happens to be in that Forum?

How about trading up for Nicolas Batum?

I wish I could be optimistic, but I think the chance of something like this happening is almost zero.

    Mango,

    quit threadsh***ing please.

I'm sorry that you were mislead by the title, and I apologize if I offended you by not placing the thread in a forum that you deem more appropriate.

Now please, just go away if you have nothing to contribute to the thread. It's immature.

Udrih is an unrestricted free agent who will be looking to cash in on a good year. The Kings very well might not re-sign him if some crazy GM offers Udrih a big contract. Bottom line: the Kings will take Augustin if he's there.

P.S. The Blazers are trying to move up from #13 to #10 with the Nets. They are targeting either Gallinari or Augustin with the 10th pick, since they think neither will be there at #13.

sorry...i guess i shouldn't have assumed that everybody knew the draft was tomorrow, and that it didn't secretly get moved up to tonight with me being the first one to know about it.

if i had editing privileges, i'd switch the title to something better, like "I know this is going to sound crazy" or "Official I want DJ Augustin Thread".
