An interesting point is to look at the number of cloture motions (to end a filibuster). THe amount of filibustering the Republicans have done (with a REPUBLICAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE!) is unreal.

Looks like the NY Times is playing politics again, trumpeting the virtues of the Democrats. Barf. Can't say I'm shocked by that, at all, given their biased history of reporting news.

Don't mistake activity for progress, Young Samuel. Based on your democratic logic of paying attention to polls, why is the democratic-controlled congress so low in the polls right now? Do tell

Symbolic measures passed by the 107th Congress: House - 447, Senate - 382. Why do we elect these people again?

That is a very good question texxx, and I thank you for asking. Anyway, if you track the data I have given you - and even better, if you track data extraneous to that, you'll see that the "congress" opinion tends to be one that is more institutional than a political one - it shows a steady downward trend no matter who is in office. Accordingly, the current congress was obviously hindered greatly by the misdeeds and inaction of its predecessor and, even if they're the greatest thing since sliced bread, as far as opinion polls go, they're not well situated to respond in that fashion.

Insofar as you are a libertarian, i'm not sure why you're upset there's not enough legislation?

I'm not. I just thought it was interesting enough to comment on.
