SANTANDER, Spain (June 4, 2008) — Just hours from kickoff, the U.S. is ready for the second of their three matches in preparation for World Cup Qualifying. Starting at 4 p.m. ET, catch the U.S. as they take on Spain, live on espn360.com, on ESPN2 beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET or on Galavision at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

I would say the game ends on a 2-2 tie, but I want the U.S. to win. It's only the third time they ever meet.

    ¡VAMOS, Estados Unidos!

Hopefully the US can play well. And I'll be disappointed if we put Johnson or Wolff on the field again, I'd rather see young unproven players get a chance because they at least have a chance of not sucking. It's pretty sad that our forward depth is so low that they can still get called up, much less playing time.

I was very surprised by this, he is such a departure from the style that Mexico usually plays, I guess the question is do they want him to change the style they play or the way he coaches. Regardless, I was happier with Hugo as the coach since his incompetence ensured mediocrity for Mexico. Erikson may be able to get them to the next level.

After the bad play against England, I'm not sure what to think. There are some adjustments to the lineups that I think should be made. Give Freddy Adu 90 minutes. The 2 Eddie's should not see the field in this game.

    2-1 Spain is my prediction.

Again, I'm just hoping for a good showing...at least better than the crap they showed last week. That was a scared team.

I have many responses to your post, DrLudicrous, but amongst them are addressing the U.S. and A.'s mediocrity from Eddie Johnson (has nothing left in his tank), Josh Wolff's inconsistency (a shiny star in the 2006 qualifiers, nothing more), and others. Adu should start in the midfield, and Jaqua should get more minutes. Stop the "this is only a friendly" excuses, fans...

On the Eriksson decision by the Mexican Federation of Football, I am befuddled. Sure he's got plenty of experience, but I'd rather a Mexican coach. Here's a report from the local newspaper:
Different style of playing, different style of work. He will NOT coach the next four games, because he wants to let Ramírez do his work. I am in shock, ya'll, mostly 'cuz there's plenty of Mexican talent to lead the team :( ... and I know ya'll will salivate for someone to do an abysmal job with the team, like Sánchez did :p.

It's only a friendly!!!  There. I got it out of my system. The only time it isn't a "friendly" is when we play the red, white and green :p Other than that, I just hope we don't embarrass ourselves.

We have two weeks to get some kind of chemistry going before we play Barbados in WC qualifying.

You better hope Ericksson is careful how he talks about the Mexicanos in interviews. :D

    How about this?!?!?

That is huge news for Altidore and US Soccer. Congrats to Jozy!

It's a shame he wasn't already in Spain with the national team. He and Adu make an amazing combination.

More LOSER talk... I should be used to this by now. And... "a-hole"... to you, sir...... for saying when it's not a friendly. :D

Anyway, YAY to ALTIDORE and more Estadounidenses playing in Europe so that the MLS continues to suck! :p

So I am going to DVR the game... since I will miss most of it on my way home. Vamos, Estados Unidos. Vamos...

What a dummy. Eddie Johnson chased a ball down to the corner as Ramos was near him... chasing it too, he had the angle... and let it roll... and just as he was about to keep it in bounds, it went OUT of bounds... :D and Spain got a corner kick... a GOOD STRIKER wouldn't do that... EJ doesn't have that KILLER INSTINCT. :p

Adu is making a huge difference for the US team, too bad Donovan is still out.

I really want to see Adu and Donavan together, they are by far our 2 most creative players, also Altidore up front that is the next World cup team and one that I can really get excited about.

Can you put spoiler tags around any score updates because I am going to watch the HD delayed broadcast in a few minutes.

So... you're going to check this thread, for what, if you don't want to know the score?? Why don't you just come back AFTER you watch the game, eh? ;)
