i need one for many things but mainly so i can get all my rockets stuff of the computer in a safe place. not anything too big (although i have heard that you can never have too much space) and i dont want to spend alot. i see some good deals on ebay but i am very hesitant to go there, especailly since i know very little about the product. of course i wouldnt mind 320gb, the more the better...but for me, it all comes down to price. the most id probably be willing to pay for a hard drive is $100.

is there any advice that anyone can give...

    what brand is the best?
is there a brand to not trust?
anyone feel like giving one away? :D

i've always been in favor of buying an external USB enclosure and chunking a HDD in it. Seagate HDDs have a 5 year warranty, so that's nice, but I would just wait for a rebate sale on a hard disk drive. They're generally listed on slickdeals or bensbargains.

Then get a USB enclosure for ~20 and you're golden.

$100 you say? You can get nice 300-320 gb HD's online for that price, but you would need to buy an enclosure, but those go around $20. I have a 320 gb Seagate from newegg for $90 and just bought this really light enclosure over at Fry's.
