First off let me say that i was both surprised ,in a good and bad way when i saw the players individual defensive stats.And i would say i give the Morey additions (Ennis,Melo,MCW)a F rating ,with stats to prove it.Now the defensive stat that i will use is called defensive field goal percentage .The way it works it shows how efficient an opposing players scores when guarded by that indivdual .A low defensive fg percentage is very good ,a high one is very bad ,remember we talking about defense here. (Nba average Dfg 47) (Capela Dfg 42.5 Rating B++) (Harden Dfg 53.7 Rating F) (Tucker Dfg 33.3 Rating A+) (Melo Dfg 57.4 Rating F-) (Cp3 Dfg 65 Rating F-) (MCW Dfg 52 Rating F) (Ennis Dfg 83.3 Rating F-- (Terrible)) In conclusion we took 3 steps back defensively,MCW is absolutly not playable ,when u cant defend nor shoot 3s ,u wont fit,Melo as much as a respect him hes a liability defensivly and no matter how much he can score when your Dfg is that high you are basically unplayable aswell ,and ennis has been a huge let down defensivly also. Fun Fact . DFRtg with Melo on court 116.1 Melo off court 105.3 (last year we were 105.6)
I just wish Melo would stop swiping at the ball. He's really does a decent job at moving feet. But for some reason he just randomly holds the player, or swipes at the ball. Also he never contests shots in the post or not range. I'd be happy if he jumped with hands up like hibbert. Because he's right in front of his man most of the time. Blows my mind why he doesn't contest better. We need to play switching D vs small teams only. The scene needs to change depending on team we play.
