So, a week ago I won 2 floor tickets to the Bobcats game... I've been to a few Rockets games, but no where close to floor seats. I thought I'd share what my experience was like to prove that EVERY Rockets fan NEEDS to do this one day if they haven't already. The doors opened around 6:20 so we had plenty of time to look around.. If you ever show up early, make your way to the bottom of the court while the players are practicing before shoot-around. Jordan Hill was very fan-friendly, as he signed pretty much everybody's stuff. Scola rolled by and played with somebody's baby lol. He's also a pretty genuine guy. **For some reason, Brooks decided to wear a headband during his short stint of practice. After, we decided to check out the Lexus Lounge, which turned out to be pretty nice. You can tell a lot of the people that roll through there are quite successful at whatever they do. My friend and I were just a couple of college kids, so we felt a bit out of place. But it was cool, nonetheless. Also, the idea of going through the tunnel to get there was quite intimidating. After we decided to find our seats and chill til the game started... Next to us was the Bobcats' bench which was pretty cool. My friend looked over and goes "Hey! Look! It's David Stern!" So I looked around and the only old guy I saw was Larry Brown.. so I responded "That's Larry Brown..." And all he could say for himself was "$hit." We also decided to record the intro.... We didn't take many pictures throughout the game, but here are a couple: Thankfully the Rockets won, and after the game, the greatest mascot in the entire league took pictures with a whole lot of people. I thought that was pretty generous. A few sidenotes: -It seems as though every greeter and employee we talked to at the game was really upbeat and all about service. Everybody was extremely nice. -A fan behind me was yelling at Gerald Wallace ALL GAME. He would start by trying to get his attention, simply yelling "GERALD!" And then would toss in some jokes about how Wallace was wearing a shoulder pad hahaha. And about his hair.. and everything inbetween. Now I thought that players were supposed to do everything in their power to ignore such fans, but when Wallace went to go sit on the bench.. the fan kept yelling "GERALD!" and finally Wallace looked over and asked "what?". The fan responded.. "You should try out for our dance team!!" and followed that up with... "HEY DIOP! I SEE YOU TOO! You're a Dallas Maverick!" At the end of the game when the Bobcats were shooting free throws, the fan began to harass him again, saying "HEY WALLACE... YOU ONLY HAD 6 POINTS IN THE SECOND HALF. MAYBE IF YOU LEAVE YOUR SHOULDER PAD AT HOME YOU'LL HAVE MORE LUCK." Ariza looked over and began to laugh. I thought that was pretty crazy. -You also notice a lot that the refs don't call... I saw a whole lot of jersey pulling and pushing. -I was also surprised to notice that the players don't talk much on the court. I'm sure this will warrant a few "cool story bro"s and "Didn't read lol"s, but I'm just sharing what my experience was like. This should be on every Rockets fan's to-do list.
I appreciate your experience. Glad you had a good time. The fan telling Wallace to join the dance team made me laugh. Thanks for sharing, and yes, next year we win big!
TLDR, cool story bro, pics or it didnt happen and IBTL for some reason. Now that that is out of the way, awesome post but no pics with power dancers??? Is that guy your with your buddy or your.....buddy?
