Does Darryl Morey have a chance at EOY? His moves have been effective, but I think those with bigger name trades (Garnett, Gasol) would have advantage over him.

I think he can only get it if the Rockets finish the regular season as a first seed.

Kind of a shame, really, this award is all about hype (like many other NBA awards) and not substance.

He's getting a little credit for the moves, but I think the success will mostly be attributed to Adelman, T-Mac, and Yao (for what he did the first 50 games). I don't think any Rocket has any of the big awards (COY, Exec of the Year, MVP). If T-Mac keeps us playing at a high level through the rest of the season, then he has a shot at making the 3rd or 2nd All-NBA team. Rafer may get some MIP votes. Battier will get some recognition for DPOY like last year.

For Exec of the Year, who are the front runners? Lakers, Boston, then maybe Portland. San Antonio can win it just about every year. Somehow, I'm thinking Kerr doesn't win it.

Honestly, I don't think he deserves it over Ainge. Transforming a bottom-feeder to contender in one year has to be EOY material.

Granted, Morey did a better job than I could even dream given what he had to work with. But let's face it. The Rockets started off pretty well when he took over. And one could argue that it's harder to tweak a team correctly from "playoff" to "contender"(which the Rockets would be w/ Yao) than to start from scratch.

But the award is Ainge's to lose.

It should go to Chris Wallace, the GM of Memphis. He made the Lakers a championship contender.

even if the rockets made the #1 seed, he wouldn't win EOY. it all comes down to the cities. Boston vs LA vs Houston. You can easily x out Houston since it can't compete with the likes of Boston and LA. We've all seen how little coverage Houston gets from ESPN. Therefore, it'll probably go to Ainge.

I almost hope he doesn't get credit for being a great GM. (He is so far though in my opinion) If he doesn't get respect from his peers, then he can get better trades from them considering his eye for personnel.
