F*cking Excuses as usual! When I see and listen to this team, its the same quotes and excuses as usual. One player says we're young, another talks about f*cking geography and another talks about the small strides that were made. Alexander for his worth has been the best owner in Houston sports history. He hired basketball men to run basketball and when a idea about improving the team has come, its not about money, its about wins. How about some of these players and coaches think about returning the favor. How about Rudy T developing a sytem that takes advantage of a TEAM game and gets people into he seats of the new arena. Lets try to make people who work hard want to spen money to see exciting , winning basketball instead of iso, outdated, boring basetball that has been going on the past 3 or 4 yrs. This team has more talent than Utah,Phoe, and for the most part SA. this team has been together for as long as alot of team entering the playoffs in a couple of weeks. Just like $ssholes, everyone has one. Lets give the fans and a product that people will pay to go see. 2 all stars with no playoffs and other solid players makes no sense. Les hired people to make good decisions and he's never had a problem with writing checks, lets pay dividends for him.
U really think the Rockets have more talent than Phoenix and SA??? Phoenix its close. They have the co rookie of the year to be, Starbury who has 3 more years in the league than Steve, Penny when healthy can ball, all star in Marion, and not bad role players in Joe johnson, gugs, bo outlaw, thslikivi(u know who i mean) etc. Sa has Duncan. the MVP. And a solid pg in Tony Parker. And the rest are just role players that know who the man is and just play around him. Sa is waayyy better than us. Trust me, when u have the MVP of the league, u are always going to be contenders for a championship. Many have said, u r only as good as your best player. Duncan is the best player in the whole league. That said, Houston has the best pieces in place. Few changes, and experience, and we will get there.
Duncan is a MVP type player, but what seperates that team from us is that Duncan plays smart and so does the rest of the team. Aside from the obvious old guys, check the ages their core players. Tony Parker is 20,Manu is 25,Jackson is the same age as Kobe, Duncan came out with Taylor and Cato. That team rebuilt on the fly just like Utah appears to be doing. I can also throw in a team like Minny that played 30 games without their 2nd leading scorer, yet we complain when Glen Rice or Mo Taylor misses a couple of games. This team has talent and aside from Portland,LA,and Kings, this team on paper is as loaded as anyone in the west. I'll keep believing that until next season or changes is made. This isn't a poor team at all, just avg. If they win out, that will be 43 wins, but in the west , thats not enough and everyone who follows hoops knows that. My thing is , it was too many times when they just didn't see the urgency in some games. Its known that some nights a team will not bring it and they talked about after they lost some of those games , they weren't going to be like that. I know they wish they had that Clev,Miami game minus Eddie Jones,1 of those Clippers loss, the bulls loss, and at least 1 of those Knicks games back. The rockets win those games and this team is closer to 50 wins than the lotto. It gets tougher next yr with NO moving into our division and memphis improving under Brown. I've said it before this season that some posters on this board only think about the improvement of our players and never think about the other teams players inprovement.
I agree with mostly u say. I just dont think we are as talented overall as Sa and other teams when its all said and done. They are just smarter. Yes, we have talent, but its still a little raw. But in about 3 years, you can say anything u want!
Then just keep reading the quote from Steve Francis where he takes responsibility and says it's his fault, as well as that of his teammates. I hate excuses, and there really aren't any for what happened in crunch time this season. That's why I was pleased to see the teams leader step up and take responsibility without passing the blame elsewhere.
Yeah, it seems every year there have been excuses made, and most of the time, I think they have been valid. Youth, lack of experience, and injuries have been blamed before, but they cannot be used this year. We stayed pretty injury-free, we had a great center handed to us on a silver platter from the basketball gods, Francis was in his 4th year in the league, guarantees of a new offensive system were promised, and we still did not make the playoffs.
