Saw this exclusive interview of Yao Ming on Sohu.com.

So what do you guys think ?

Do you agree with his analysis ?

Which team is more fearsome as far as the Houston Rockets is concerned ? Dallas Mavericks ?? Phoenix Suns ??

Yao just said what everyone else was thinking, but very good interview, and smart answers.

Yao always uses those universal answers. I mean his answers can be applied to any circumstances.

    He always says something like
"i have to get stronger" or "the team have to fight for their trophy"

these are not his real feelings.

He should say something like " Mark CUban is an @$$ hole" or "i will drop 40 when i see the mavs again."

    learn from Wade, yao.

or perhaps he should learn from Shaq and say "Watch out NBA, the Superman returns!"

You can tell Yao has confidence that we can beat the sorry Mavs. Personally, I would rather have the fourth best record and have the Mavs finish first. The Spurs could take out the Suns and then we could beat the Mavs in the second round and Spurs in the third round. That would be so great!!!

It is impossible for us to get 4th seed, so your scenario does not work.

That's because the last time he played against them, we blew them out by 30. But the Mavs are really good, and they'll be as tough as anyone to beat in the playoffs. I'd almost prefer to play against the Suns in the playoffs, actually. Their style of play is less flexible, and they don't have the depth or versatility in their personnel to make in-series adjustments like the Mavs. The playoffs generally comes down to half-court execution. In the playoffs, I think our half-court defense could beat their half-court offense.

I should make it clear that it's impossible for us to be the 4th seed and play the Spurs in the 3rd round as the previous poster proposed.

Even with Yao, I would still put us behind Mavs, Suns, and Spurs in the West...people are brushing off the Spurs like they're old news, we shall see when the playoffs come around.

Of course, the Spurs are also known for making great moves that might seem minor yet help them immensely; I am still concerned that they might be able to get a guy like a Maggette that can put them over the top. They certainly don't lack playoff experience on their roster.

I still think Spurs is the most dangerous team if we meet them in playoff. They have experience, depth, been together for a long time, good coaching and some very unselfish players. Our talent alone would give them a run for the money.

Loosen up guys! All this predicting when so many variables come into play!!
What happens if San Antonio drops a few places and then Denver Nuggets climb into fifth? Then we have a different senario!
    1st round
Wolves v Dallas Dallas in 5, Lal V Phoenix Phoenix in 6,
SA V UTAH SA in 6 Den V Hou Hou in 6
    2nd Round
Hou V Dallas Hou in 6
SA V Phoenix SA in 7
    WCF
SA V Hou HOU in 6
Its possible .............. :p JVG has to be careful to end up in fourth place!!

The other poster actually carefully used the word "fourth best record". In the current playoff seeding, that would give us the 5th seed against the Jazz or whoever the fourth seed is, and still have San Antonio getting the third seed. We would still have homecourt in the first round if we have a better record than the Jazz.

So to conclude, the poster never mentioned fourth seed but rather fourth best record, hence your rebuttal does not apply.

i agree with yao but i also have this feeling that our team lacks confidence against the suns. i'd like to see us get a win in the regular season against them in case we meet up in the playoffs.

It is possible for us to get the 4th seed. I don't think many people have read up on the rule changes. In fact...this scenario would have applied before the rule change also.

    1. Dallas/Phoenix
    2. Phoenix/Dallas
    3. Utah
    4. Houston
    5. San Antonio
    6. LA
    7. Denver
    8. Minnesota

    Matchups
    1st Round - San Antonio @ Houston
    2nd Round - Houston @ Dallas
WC Finals - Houston @ Phoenix
    Finals - Detriot @ Houston
    Champions - Houston

    Now make it happen.

The 4th seed seems too terrible!!! We'd better exchange with Utah.

Utah is overvalued so let's play Utah first.

    1. Dallas
    2. Phoenix
    3. San Antonio
    4. Houston
    5. Utah
    6. L.A.
    7. Denver
    8. Minnesota
