Very interesting read, thanx for your post/translation!

I hope JVG doesn't mind CD blaming the losses on injuries after he wouldn't let players do the same! :D

Come on, he is just using this board to practise his translaton skills.

    Just joking. Thanks Pryuen. :)

By the way, I also find that Tmac's quote about the performance of the team kinda weird. May be it was not properly translated.

Unless there's a lost in the translation did T-Mac really said this?

When Tracy McGrady was under fire, he said: "Why this team sucks ?? Don't ask me. Ask the management !!"

    ME BAD !!! :D :p

I think I've put some personal feelings into the translation.

In the original, TMAC said something like, "Why this team did not play well ?? Don't ask me. Ask the management."

good read. only thing wrong was they misquoted or mistranslated tmac. and i do agree with cd. people have chewed and spit jvg for this year's results. it is dissapointing to see our rockets like this, but give the man a break. he only has 9 players (only three of them is in the regular starting lineup) to work with and most of them are 2nd or 3rd string players, all of our offensive options are sidelined, we have the worst starting five at the moment. no matter if your phil jackson or red auerbach, you cant win that many games with that lineup. but jvg did make this team a team who just doesnt know the term, "give up". night in and night out, these guys play their hearts out and knowing that every game, their backs are against the wall. like i said before, even if this is a 1st half of the season to forget, this team still continues to amaze me.

I like the "ignite chemical reaction between Yao and McGrad" part, it just made me laugh out loud. :D

Excellent interview, thanks for bringing it to us.

Appreciate the effort in pulling the article pryuen.

I have to say though, after seeing and hearing many interviews of CD in the past the article is a little suspect.

    (1) Statements like "perplexed and frustrated" or "(Dawson getting emotional)" don't sound like CD at all.

    (2) The article seems to imply that TMAC thinks that the teams performance is due to management moves. Is that what TMAC really thinks? Or is the reporter twisting words to serve a presupposition?

    A CDOF ???? WTF !!! :D

I am first a diehard YOF.....then 爱屋及乌 (literally means due to the love of someone, then love everything that comes along with him/her), I started to follow basketball, and start to like Steve Francis, Tracy McGrady, the Rockets, ......but Carroll Dawson could be the last on my list !!! :D :D :D

This was discussed before... CD or TMAC didn't use those exact words - the interviewer translated and published the interview/quote in Chinese on the local newpaper, which got translated back to English by Pryuen.

I am sure the grammar used by CD is better than that in the translation too. ;)

What he said has been translated from English to Chinese then from Chinese back to English by Pryuen who in all likelihood is not a professional translator.

Good to hear that one of CD's sucess criteria of the Alston/James trade is that it "was a sucess as far as Mike James is concerned"...brutal.

CD probably said something like "it was certainly good for him (caching!) and with Alston being out 20 games not so great for us at this point". But the entire interview is a little surreal (due to translation) if you've been listening to CD for 30 years. I personally laughed several times and wondered if Yao would sound like Burt Lancaster if English was his first language.

Thanks pryuen for the translation. CD has played a pivital role in Rocket history and I feel worse for him than anyone that this season has played out like it has.

90% of those here applauded the moves that we made in the offseason before anyone realized Sura might be done - which precipitated the James trade - and it's just been ugly.

For CD's sake I hope he resigns at the end of the year no matter what happens to the Rockets, he doesn't need this grief after all he's been through.

He was the one that worked with Dream for 3 years after practice until he had nothing left to teach. He was instumental in the hiring of Rudy and keeping Dream here.

Past glory, no doubt. But if you've heard CD enough it's hard to believe anyone doesn't think he's family - because that's exactly what the Rockets are to him.

It will be hard for him to let go, but almost every move we've made in the last 8 years hasn't worked out - much like 26 or so teams in the league. This team might yet surprise as constructed (probably next year) but it's time for CD to just let it all go.

I've often wondered what it's like having lunch with JVG, and wondered how many times CD could stomach it. I think we'll find out soon.
