Since the Oilers moved out and the Texans moved in, where's your heart? Tennessee or Houston?

It was with the Titans for awhile, but now that McNair is in Baltimore, there is really no reason for me to follow them. I no longer live in Houston, so the Texans mean nothing to me.

For me, it's all about the city experiencing the joy of a winner. that's why I can't understand why any former oiler fan would ever root for the titans. They don't play for Houston.

As a kid living in a small southeast Texas town, I grew up a Cowboy/Oiler fan. I obviously had more heart ache watching the Oilers, but they'll always be my AFC team no matter what their name is. My frat brothers wife is Bruce Matthews personal assistant and we'll be there for his HOF ceremony; hopefully next summer. And I'll be sporting my Oilers gear. As for the Texans, they got off on the wrong foot with me. I like the name Texans obviously, but it's original and it has been used before(Dallas Texans '62 AFL Champs). Then they took David Carr. He played in the WAC for Pete's sake. You never take a QB in that conference #1 overall. He'd be a good backup, but starting isnt' his gig. This will be more than likely his last year with the Texans.

This should have been a public poll. Anyone who roots for the Titans is a traitor to me.

Ever since I have been in Houston, I have followed HOUSTON teams, and have been a fan of the TEXANS since day one. I disagreed with the team name, with the team logo, with the team colors, but I am their fan and didn't get pissed about it. Thick and thin steel blue and battle red, b*tches. I never have cheered for the Titans... well, maybe once during the Music City Miracle game against the Bills and against the Rams in the Super Bowl... but never against the Texans.
Doesn't that mean that you're with VY and not with the Titans? What happens if (I know, it WON'T happen) they trade or cut Vince Young? Will you still be a Titan fan? Your loyalty seems to be with Vince instead of with the team. Who are you more with NOW? Don't get me wrong, man, I think Vince Young has talent, and will probably take them to the promised land, but I think that it has nothing to do with the Titans.

I moved away from Houston in 1975 after being a life-long Oiler fan, so obviously I'm a Titan fan. I follow the Texans but without passion.

I could NEVER support a team that left. People used to ask if I'd still be a Rockets fan if they moved. I always said I wouldn't and I believe that. Once the Oilers left Houston, they were dead to me.

I'm an Oiler fan who got behind the Texans from day 1,but it's still a slow transition. That passion I felt for the boys in columbia blue will take awhile to be matched.

.....and I NEVER have been a Titans fan.

I followed the Titans a bit after they left, but much less passionatly. I have never gotten into the Texans, and when the 2 teams play, I don't really have a dog in the hunt, but lean towards Houston because I grew up there.

However, living in Austin now, I just don't have an NFL team, I more follow the players on my fantasy team.

It is kind of sad, really, I miss getting up and watching the pre game for any scrap of information about my Oilers......but those days are gone now.

I think I follow the Longhorns more than pro football now, but I don't move my schedule around to watch the games anymore.

Sunday's are now family times, with cub scout meetings and backyard slip and slides.........maybe I will catch on with the Texans some day....and I do like Kubiak...a LOT......if they would have drafted VY I would have followed them more quickly, now just from a distance hoping that they can turn it around for my beloved Houston.

For me the teams I follow now in order are:

    1. Rockets
    2. Astros

    DD

PS. I am going to vote Titans above to give them at least one vote, and to show Fatty that nobody cares what he thinks anyway. ;)

i was i die-hard oilers fan my whole life. when they moved to tennessee, i realized that if i were to abandon them i would have to "randomly" choose another nfl team. i figured i might as well choose the tenn. oilers/titans because i'd watched all those guys from draft day forward. i knew that team like no other.
when houston was granted the 32nd franchise, i was behind them from that point. the Texans are my no. 1 nfl team, but i'd say the titans are still no. 2 (especially now that they have Jesus In Cleats...)

Me too DaDa.For me,after the Oilers left,I was pretty much a man without a team.As it worked out for awhile,my team was whoever I had my money on that week....and of course there were my fantasy players.
Like I said above,I'm warming up to the Texans, but it's hard to imagine feeling the way I did back then about Bum and the Oilers. My Mom took me to the pep rallies after our losses to the Steelers in the playoffs....good memories.

I agree 1000%. I've become more of a college fan since the Oilers (and I) left H-town and have adopted the horns as the de facto squad. As for pro football - ehh, I'll watch it, but am not a fan with the same intensity; really I think colllege is objectively more interesting anyway.

But I still loved the old oilers, I just bought an autographed Earl Campbell helmet off ebay last week!

Even with living in Austin for the last 7 years, I am a Houston sports fan first and foremost. Oilers left for Tennessee. No longer in Houston, no longer a fan.

    The Oiler Franchise since '73.

Go Titans! Even though they presently suck.

Question: Did you 6 other Titan fans feel vindicated the moment "The Music City Miracle" occured? I mean, for that 35-3 choke VS. Buffalo in '93?

Other than the Rockets winning back-to-backs, that was the bestest day of my life. I root for every Houston team, sans the Texans.

Never thought HOU would get another NFL franchise. Had to move with Houston to Tennessee. No turning back.

I'll always be a Houston sports fan, even though it is frustrating at times, home is where the heart is.

But the Titans are definitely a close 2nd. Other than Adams, I loved Steve McNair, Eddie George, and Kearse. I think Fisher is one of the best coaches in the game. And now they have VY!!
