The jack-n-box thread in the Garm inspiried me, I think this belongs in D&D. You guys seriously don't eat this garbage do you? Every time a fast food thread pops up around here the majority starts getting all excited and hungry, and talks like fast food is actually good? With all the medical studies that are out now, that proves this **** will make you fat, tired, ages you quicker, and can even kill you, you guys still get excited about it? Not getting on my high horse or saying I'm better than anyone but seriously, why do you guys eat this crap with no repercussions? Is it just an age thing? I do remember back in high school, I'd eat taco bell and mcdonalds all the time, but back then nobody educated me, I didn't know any better, I thought food was food. Now that I'm in my 30's and actually read health studies & warnings, I can't fathom putting this crap in my body. Why do you guys continue to do it?
Uhhh maybe cause it tastes good and it's also convenient and cheap? I guess you wouldn't understand since your tastebuds are more highly sophisticated then ours In moderation, I see no problem with fast food.
Yep. Probably once every two weeks or so. If it takes years off my life, I'll just have to die sooner. I'd bet that it doesn't do anything more to make me fat than the meals that my technicians cook or beer.
i've been guilty of fast food but the last 2 years I may have it once a month and those are times when I'm in a pinch or just feel like being "bad". One day I just realized how disgusting it all really was and how really simple it is to have a healthy snack nearby or make a simple, but good meal at home...mized in with the occasional oven pizza and stouffers But it is scary when some people show the "enthusiasm" that they do when fast food is mentioned. I think when you eat it regularly for a while you do get numb to it all. But I challenge someone to not eat ANY fast food for a month. Make relatively healthy meals and eat well when you do go out to dinner at a restaurant. Then, after that month, go eat fast food. It severely losses its "appeal"
Where did I say anything about taste or tastebuds? I do think fast food tastes pretty good, especially those greasy tacos from jack-n-box. My tastebuds aren't any more sophisticated than anyones. The baked chicken breasts & mixed veggies I eat don't taste all that great, but damn they make me feel good. Is your health worth convienient and cheap? And for the record, I ate mcdonalds last week, got a chicken sandwich because I was in a bind and needed something quick. But I didn't get french fries or a soda. My biggest issue here is how people actually get excited on this bbs and talk like fast food is the best thing ever, that is what I don't get and am hoping someone can explain it to me.
That is true, I don't think some of the chicken sandwiches or even some of the burgers are all that bad, but its the sodas and the french fries that are doing people in. Sugar & simple carbs with no protein are a recipe for disaster.
There are things that people like that you don't like and vice versa. It's all about personal preference. As for the taste bud comment, you come in here bashing fast food and you didn't mention one good thing about this "garbage". Based on your rant, I'm just going to assume that you're a snobby food elitist that looks down on those who don't have your personal food preference.
You are getting really defensive about this topic. I figured this would happen, this is why I started this thread in the D&D. I'm not a snobby food elitist, but I do, in a way, question those who are careless with their health. I suppose it is a form of natural selection, maybe? Don't you understand that it isn't a personal preference? That isn't what this is about, it has nothing to do with someone liking fast food more than I do, the topic of conversation is your health. Why do you regularly put things into your body that have been proven to have significant negative health effects? Is it one of those things where you just turn a blind eye until something goes wrong and then you try and change your eating habits after the fact? Or are you just uneducated when it comes to nutrition? Or do you just not care? I feel the same way about Smoking, so I guess this isn't all about fast food.
Fast food is okay maybe once awhile like once or twice a month...but i agree it is horrible for you and the studies do prove it...i do not see how people can eat fastfood 3 or 4 times a week! Its just unbelievable\ btw love your signature Deser_Rocket i agree!
that is true. I ate like crap for a long time in college and I never gained any weight, mostly due to the fact I was still active and never overdid it with food (plus genetics). However, I'm not one to go with the "a calorie is a calorie" idea. 1500 calories of fresh baked chicken, salad, veggies, fruit, rice is better than 1500 calories of processed fast food...at least that's how I view it. all that being said...hot wings sure do sound good tonight
That's article is a tad silly. Hell, you could eat just 1400 calories of lard and lose weight. That does not mean it's healthy for you.
eh, who cares. look around you, houston is obese city. if these people actually cared for their health they would've took action already. asking someone to eat healthy after eating fast food their entire life is like asking you to eat fast food everyday after eating healthy for so long. you do what you want, if you live shorter or die from it, so be it.
I don't think people eating french fries once or twice a month qualifies as being careless with your health. Most people don't eat that every day. Is McDonalds any worse than scarfing down a frozen pizza or a plate of General Tso's chicken?
and i will die when I am 97 years old...running out of the back door while an angry boyfriend shoots me in the back because I was banging his 25 year old girlfriend
