...is now out. Downloading mine... about 109MB. http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/03/happy-evo-4g-owners-get-gingerbread-update-right-on-schedule/ Right on schedule, Sprint made Gingerbread available to any and all EVO 4G owners willing to check for the update manually (and if you're a fan of this site, we suspect you are). As a PSA, you won't just be getting Android 2.3, but also Gmail and SMS fixes, and a tweak for the phone's power management software. We've been getting a flood of tips from delighted readers in various markets who report the upgrade went smoothly. Can't be bothered to check for updates? You'll likely get a prompt to download it on Monday. So, Froyo, good night and good luck, and to everyone else, happy Friday!
Cool. Sent from my Evo running MIUI Gingerbread 2.3.4 (Even my technophobe roommate gave up and installed CyanogenMod 7 on his phone a few weeks ago. He hasn't looked back since.)
Thanks for posting! I was about to root mine. Going to update. Had to restart my phone to start the download. So far so good.
Hope that gingerbread is made available for us HTC Thunderbolt users soon, which should address some of the battery life challenges as well as gain us access to NetFlix and Skype.
Here is your skype fix sir, This is the video version of skype for the tbolt http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28393515/com.skypevideo.apk you can use that direct link from within your phone. Want gingerbread? I'm running Cyanogen Mod on my TBolt, however there is Gingerbread out for the Thunderbolt which brings it to 2.3.4 Gingerbread is also out in many different roms, you have to be rooted and update your radio firmware. Once you're on Gingerbread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090706 There goes your netflix fix.
