I didn't want the Lakers to win, but there's no question they deserved this one. They showed tremendous mental toughness to make a come back in a game 7. Kobe Bryant, Paul Gasol, Ron Artest, and Derek Fisher all made huge plays with the game in the balance.
Great thread. Yep I agree, Championships are earned. Lakers did that tonight, and throughout the season by locking up homecourt. Lakers were the favs going into 2010, it shouldn't be a big surprise to anyone that they won the rings tonight.
spoken like a true nba fan and importantly a smart clutchfan. i can't give you more rep til i spread it around, but there are too many suckers here who don't deserve a blessing of a 99er. the Lakers won, they got home field advantage and that's the story. that's why you play the regular season for that chance. a game 7 at home.
How was this one deserved? The control of the game instantly shifted to the referees when the Celts went into the penalty at the 5:00 minute mark. When Kobe Bryant / Pau Gasol takes 2 and 4 less FTs, respectively, than the ENTIRE Celts team, you know something is awry.
I repped him for you. Unlike him, I wanted the Lakers to win, I despise the Celtics but wow what a battle. Much respect goes out to the Celtics. Kobe was right when he said this was the hardest one.
i'm definitely not a lakers fan and i will be spammed hard tomorrow on email. but they won. they deserve it and that's that. when the Rockets win, I expect the same, no excuses, no michael jordan, no they moved the 3 point line closer so Kenny Smith can shoot better crap. champions are champions. period.
It sure looked easy with the refs behind his back. I am not saying that the Lakers didn't deserve it, but the refs took away the pleasure of watching two great teams battling it out.
That's the one exception. There were a lot of things pointing to that game being fixed, I believe that year...maybe they didn't earn it that year. We will never know because Laker Haters act like the Lakers were vastly inferior to the Kings, it's just a shame they had so much help from the refs in that game. All the others are well deserved IMO. Can't really expect the Celts to win without their starting C AND on the road? Then they got into foul trouble early and that's when it really started going down hill for them.
If the refs didn't call those fouls, then Laker fans would have every right to complain that the refs were taking away the pleasure of watching a fairly called game.
I knew it was over for the celts when Refs called those early fouls to start the 4th qtr. It was weird bc they didnt call that type of physical plays for like 3 qtrs....free throws ftw i guess for this finals
