I'm looking to fly my family of 4 during the Christmas holidays. Right now the lowest fare I can find is about $1200 for all of us.

I've use Priceline for cars and hotels with good success but never for airfare. Anyone have any experience with it? I've been to the www.biddingfortravel.com site but am hoping for more input.

I have used them for airfare, but it was 5 years ago.

Back then, you had to take whatever flight they gave you, even if it was the redeye on the date you requested. Not sure if that has changed nowadays

Never. I check to see the prices and then usually I can get a lower one from the airlines, hotels, or whatever else they have listed on there.

The first time my wife used them to buy a ticket from Houston to San Francisco, she had a connection in Atlanta. She flew from here to Atlanta to get a plane to San Fran. With a toddler. Maybe she could have been smarter about how she used it, but we won't be doing it again.

I remember an article stating the 10 most important domain names and kayak.com was one of them. At first I was like wtf, but then I went to the site and realized it had nothing to do with kayaks.
