My kid goes to a school here on the Northwest side of town and told me that there were some kids picking on another kid for no reason. Well she knew the bullies (not her friends) and told them to leave her alone. My kid got to know the young girl and she told my kid that she was from New Orleans and her family had lost everything. They were staying at a church members house of her moms best friend. Well last night my kid invites her to my house for dinner and I sat the young lady down and talked with her. This kid had seen some pretty awful stuff (floating bodies, looting) and some other terrible stuff that a kid that age should not have seen. We are planning on helping this family get back on its feet. They are planning on staying here in Houston. They lost everything. My kid provided her with some cool clothes (instead of donated clothes) and she left the house happy and grateful. I spoke with her parents and they are awesome people. I am so proud of my kid. Anyways, thought I would share.
Nice work. Good to see somebody is raising their kids correctly. I was starting to get a little worried...
great story!!! thanks for sharing it!!! btw: remember the guy we saw on CNN who lost his wife..the one who said his wife told him to go on and take care of their kids....that guy is living in the convention center, downtown, right now.
You must be an excellent parent. Way to go...raising your kids the right way is just about the best thing you can do for them and for society as a whole.
I wish I was an excellent parent. I do want my kids to grow up being decent people and to grow up with God in their lives. Thats my goal...everything else will fall in place. Thanks for all the kind words.
What a WONDERFUL story, thanks for sharing. Give your child an extra big hug ! And you and your wife share a high five for a job well done ! DD
