Apologies if this is rehashed, the report is dated Nov. 30th. From http://espn.go.com/nba/rookiereport/index.html, things to note: These were some of the names thrown around pre-draft as well as Collier. I especially like the comments for Godzilla. I wonder what they'd have to say about Langhi? ------------------ Five to one baby, one and five...no one here gets, out alive.
After reading this article, http://espn.go.com/nba/columns/may/929221.html , a thought crossed my mind: Is Collier going to the Rookie All-Star game? Also, what is Francis, Brand, etc. going to do to those rookies in this game? It's going to be ugly.
HOLY COW, I never thought of that! Imagine: PG/SG Baron Davis and Francis SF/PF Shawn Marion and Brand or Odom here C Odom or put Brand here against: Kenyon Martin Stephen Jackson Wait a sec, is a better C than Collier??? Mihm and Przybilla have NOT played AT ALL! u think Collier would get to start? ------------------
I think that we will see Magloire starting at center over Collier, especially with Collier's injury. I think Kenyon Martin, Stephen Jackson, Magloire, Swift?, Darius Miles, maybe Fizer/Miller. It is a rather weak class. Hope next year's class is much better. ------------------ Little O
Rudy looks like a freaking genius for basically passing on this year's draft picks and choosing Collier. ------------------
What the hell happened to this class?? What was the worst class before this one? BTW, I predict next year's class to be the best one in the history of the NBA..... ------------------
What is the format of the rookie/soph game this year. Is it the same? ------------------ humble, but hungry.
I thought this whole Rookie/Sophomore game was only applied last year cuz the Rookies in the 98/99 Season did not get to play in the Rookie game because of the shortened season. Is the Rookie/Sophomore game be played this year too? i don't think so. ------------------ Will the REAL Steve Francis, please step up! I repeat....
oooo...wow....espn gave collier a B-. oooo...now he should go to the rookie game. give me a freaking break. dude is worse than all of those players you are dissing. rudy is now a genius for passing on all the others and taking collier? what? its a little too early in the season to deem all of these players a bust. i guess the same should be said of collier just to be fair but i see more potential in any of the players we passed up than collier. rookie game..give me a break... i cant wait till this guy is off our team. ------------------ "Man, it's cool. I'm going to be president. That's Wicked." -George W. Bush, SNL
Who cares? Get back to me when they have actual results. I'd be willing to bet a lot of money you haven't seen any of those players play, and that you're basing all of this on your hatred for Collier and scouting reports. Sure glad you aren't our GM- if you're serious about that I'd guess you'd be lucky to win one game. ------------------ President of the Jason Collier fan club! It is very interesting that Collier, when healthy, contributes alot more than many of these other picks. We got him for free basically, getting this years Bucks pick(if they make playoffs? or was it above 13?). All that booing during the draft for nothing. And if you've watch the games when Collier played minutes, you saw he was a nice backup roleplayer...decent defense(enough to get by), nice jumpshot, hands(Francis go-to player it seemed lol)...so yes it isn't pretty, but it works....Can't wait for this years draft....yum yum... BTW it's win win situation from my perspective, Rockets make playoffs(YA!) or Rockets slightly miss and get a nice mid draft pick in what looks like a very nice draft(YA!)..... ------------------
Cat why do you take up for Collier so much?? Do you actully think he is gonna be a good player? Lets be realistic.
I've seen this guy for years, and followed him closely the last couple of years at Georgia Tech. He won't ever be a star I don't think, but no one available at pick 9 this year ever will be. He has the potential to be a very good rotation big man for the Rockets. He can run the floor. He shoots well from the outside. He can rebound, and sets picks like a brick wall. He's not ever flashy, but he has all the fundamentals and tools to be a very solid NBA player, especially in this Rockets system. His versatility and ability to set picks, shoot from the outside, etc. will be a nice complement to Cato's defense when they are the center tandem in a year or so. And also, unlike Cato, he always gives 110% and hustles his butt off. I've watched Collier for a while LilFrancis, and I am convinced he has what it takes to be a successful NBA player. Realistically, you can hold me to this quote: long-term Collier will be one of the top 10 players from this past draft. ------------------ President of the Jason Collier fan club! Agree 100% with The Cat but wanted to add that the Rocky Mt. Review was basically Rookies and 2nd Year players and Collier more than held his own. If they have a Rookies/Sophs game this year, 12 points and 8 boards are easily within Collier's reach. ------------------ GATER
Yeah, it is. They changed the format for good. The rookies are going to get crushed. It's going to be hilarious. ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel boy.
