Despite poorer record we are ahead of the the Kings,Jazz,Lakers,Wolves and Warriors. We jump up one spot from last week. I have to say thats pretty nice of Marc to put us in this position. We are slowly but surely gaining respect and I hope we can continue our streak. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/powerranking?season=2006&week=15 "Problems? To leapfrog five teams into the playoffs, Houston must keep improving that 8-16 home record. And March is the time to do it, with 11 of 15 games at home."
After the way the Lakers dismantled us last week and given the fact that they are playing .500 ball, there's no way you rank us ahead of them.
Also, the Kings seem to be getting hot right now, too. 5-2 in their last 7, including wins over Denver and Memphis. I can definitely see the Kings fighting for that last spot, too...though as he mentioned, they do play a heavy road record coming up.
The loss to the Lakers was an aberration, not part of a trend. We should've won that game, we just didn't show up. Anybody with an ounce of objective insight can clearly see that we *are* better than the Lakers right now.
Hey, I love excuses as much as the next person but the fact of the matter is we got beaten in convincing fashion by a team with a better record than us. Sure, we're better than the Lakers right now, but if I were making those Power Rankings, I would at least give credit where credit is due.
"We should've WON that game?" Haha! Well, my dear .. showing up is part of the plan, isn't it? I agree with the dude who said we should rank BEHIND the Kings & Lakers. Until we win on a CONSISTENT basis, against good teams, screw what some dolt critic thinks from his comfy cubicle in between his online DOOM tournament. I like the direction we're "going" (i.e. winning games) ... but lets not get carried away. If we win OUT, we win the SAME amount of games we did last year, or nearabouts. & we saw what happened last year with a SEMI-GOOD team. :choke:
While I have to agree with you here, the reason we got beat so bad is because Wesley was no match for Kobe. Today, at least we could put Bogans on Kobe for a while and it definately would help. The the Fakers SHOULD be ahead of us.
So,.... how is it that they rank us below the Bucks?!?!?! We just beat them, convincingly, last Wednesday.
the Power Rankings are ranked by the hottest teams "right now"... look at the Lakers wins in Feb.. the Rockets were the only one win they got... now look at the Rockets losses in Feb... only the Lakers. Rockets definitely deserve a higher ranking.
It could go either way really. Sure, the Lakers are playing bad but lets also not forget all of our wins have come against bad teams. We're still team with the inferior record after getting beaten convincingly by a team like the Lakers, in my judgement its hard to place us ahead of them for that reason. Either way, not really worth debating since they are only just Power Rankings to begin with.
So far, we are 6-20 against teams with .500 or better records, and 15-10 against teams under .500. Injuries is certainly a valid excuse. Let's see how well we play now that we have most of our pieces back.
