Andy Katz was on The Pulse on ESPNEWS and said the Rockets doing some extra work on Rudy Gay because there is real possibility he will fall to the Rockets at 8. Katz said barring any trade, Andrea Bargnani will likely go No.1, LaMarcus Aldridge at No.2, Brandon Roy at No.3, Adam Morrison at No.4. He said no way Morrison goes past the Blazers. He also said Marcus Williams of UCONN is almost a lock to go to the Celtics at No.7 if he is there. Katz said the Bobcats are leaning towards Brandon Roy because the have a huge need at the two guard and need instant help and Roy is considered the most NBA ready. He said Michael Jordan will have major input on who they draft. Katz also thinks Bulls will not take Tyrus Thomas because he didn't finish his workout there and Skilles loves tough players. Andy Katz is pretty reliable for college basketball so take it for worth.

I don't know if we are trading up or not, but Gay is the guy I want us to get.

Yea, I think Gay would be a great fit. Better fit for this team than Morrison or Tyrus Thomas, Roy would be just as good of a fit though.

That would be pretty awesome. I hope the Rockets are going to see who drops to them first before trading up and losing Head.

    I think Head+Gay > Roy

As much as I want Brewer, Rudy Gay would be a no-brainer.

I'd be pretty happy with Gay. If he does slip, that would be great!

    I have a question...

when do draft swaps/trades usually occur? Before the draft? After the 1st round? The day after the draft? Anyone know?

Most of the times the deals are agreed on before the draft, and announced as the draft is played out. Thats what happened when the suns picked Nate for the knicks last year.(q-rich trade)

Usually the day before and the day of the draft.

    So worst case scenario...

We trade Luther and the pick to get Brandon Roy

and then Rudy Gay falls to our 8th pick, and we can't do anything about it because we traded already... and we could have ended up with Gay Head.

I think what's really going on is that the Rockets are serious about trading up, and they want to check out ALL the top prospects, in order to finalize the top of our draft board. And know who we'd want in case we get to choose.

Either that or all the trade talk is just smoke in order to get the workouts, but we really just keep the pick because we believe someone is going to fall, and we're doing our due diligence in case they're there when we pick.

    no way!

    Gay is overrated

I do not want to see him in Houston

    Roy or Bargnani!

    CD, JVG do your homework!

if we get Tyrus or Gay, I would be pretty upset...

What happens if by some weird occurance a professional team's scouting department actually does its homework and decides that Gay is the bpa and drafts him? Perhaps you can send them your phone number so they can get the inside skinny.

    :p

Trades can be done before the draft, but they can also be done contingent on someone falling to a particular position. With those contingencies in place a team could back out at the last minute if they don't like the way the draft is shaping up and would rather just keep their pick.

Rockets are simply setting smoke screen. They are bringing players in so they don't get caught off guard. I know this because i really think Foye and Marcus Williams are going to MInny and Boston. Rockets just told the agents of the players that they are moving up in the draft and want to look at the players. But truth is that they want to just sit and catch either Roy or Gay.

I can hardly believe he could fall to #8. I would snatch him up for the Rockets at #8 in a nanosecond. He seems like the perfect complimentary player for Yao & McGrady. He is unselfish (some have said even to a fault), a great defender, reportedly a hard worker and is very good in the open court. Him running the wing with Tracey and Rafer would be awesome. As young as he is I believe there is time for his outside shot to develop in which case he would be unstopable. I wish there were any way this could come to pass, but I see him going before #8.
