http://www.google.com/translate?u=h...s=bei&type=story&langpair=es|en&hl=en&ie=UTF8 Article is in Spanish but basically says that the Astros will have two of its top scouts in Santiago to watch Bartolo Colon pitch in the Caribbean Series. Ed Wade is also there and he says they are interested. Colon says he is healthy and expects to sign next week and he prefers to pitch in the National League. I still think the Astros will sign one from Colon, Kyle Lohse, and Livan Hernandez.
I'll take Colon over Livan. I think Livan is (finally) done, but will command money like he's still good.
Is Colon fixed yet? It is sad that this guy just won the Cy Young not too long ago and then break down. I hope if we do sign up he is going to be the Colon of old...
Colon is out of shape and throwing low to mid-80s.. I don't think he'll be contributing much to any team any time soon.
It isn't because there is no interest in them. A lot of these guys waited until Santana and Bedard situations played out. It was been reported on MLB trade rumors that if the Mets had not gotten Santana, they would have tried to sign Livan Hernandez. Now that Santana and Bedard are situated, there will be some movement on these pitchers.
Isn't his fastball topping out around 85 MPH? The only report that I read about him was weeks ago and it was not flattering. Can't be worse than the Woody signing, though
No, it's becasue there is no interest in them. Colon is a big chunko with no work ethic and Livan has had a bum knee for awhile and hasn't been good since '05. You play to win. If these two could help a team win, they would of been scooped up by a contender months ago.
I didn't put my last post perfectly.. I think they're both done--not just Livan. I just think Bartolo has a better chance of having half a season that's solid.. I just feel like Livan was lucky to even end up with the stats he did last year.
