Has anyone been on that site its pretty cool...i dont understand why they are the only city to get one...seems a little unfair for other cities.
There is a domain registered at espnhouston.com , so I'd suspect this is something they will eventually roll out to all major cities.
Chicago was the first city chosen. I believe they are going to do it for a number of cities across the nation.
I can't believe I'm saying this... but why do we get one? Our history in the city of Houston in terms of sports has sucked ass.... and it's still sucking ass...
What about da Bulls and da Bears! Also the White Sox. I believe they beat the Astros in the WS a few years ago.
I wasn't just pointing out present time.. I'm talking about team's historys.. Let's review Rockets Chips: 2 Stros Chips : 0 Texans : 0 (they're new so they get an exception but they haven't even made the playoffs yet) Oilers: 0 So... all in all.. we have 2 chips in the city of Htown, you count UH's chip with Phi Slamma.. that's 3... The Bulls alone have more.. that's what I mean by success.
This doesn't sound like good news for sports sections of local online newspapers. Coffin, meet nail? Although I'm guessing ESPN won't have the staff the cover all these markets thoroughly, at least not profitably. Do they poach local talent?
That's trips to the NCAA Final Four, including twice in the championship game. Not titles, little boy.
That's the first thing that came to my mind. But ESPN has to put enough resources into it for that to happen. Is there going to be something fresh and original every day to read? I doubt it. If they just rehash what's already available on ESPN.com, this will flop.
Expanding and moving to Dallas and other markets soon: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/20/business/media/20espn.html?_r=1&ref=business
same thing I was thinking, no way they can do this for all major makrets. the city that I guess would definitely get a site is Boston. When you combine success and fan enthuasim. I think that's what you have to look for. I hate that Dallas is considered a better sports town than Houston
Ah, my lack of knowledge of UH basketball... well I received that info from a person... never really bothered to look it up since I didn't care too much... but that just proves my point even more.
