Yeah, he had never played in a live tourney before. He won his $10,000 entry fee from a $40. internet tourney he won.

    $40 invested = $2,500,000 return. WOW.

Moneymaker came in as "dead money" and ended up beating all of the pros. I love when he staired down that one guy on the final table and read him as bluffing then called him on it.

If you go to www.pokerstars.com Moneymaker and Sammy Farha will play again head-to-head for $40,000 in a couple of weeks for those interested.

Weird, I don't even know how to play poker but I love watcing those tourneys on ESPN and sometimes the Travel Channel. Who is that Asian guy with the mullet and sunglasses? I also like that whiney guy that cries when he loses a hand. Phil something. There are some great personalities on that circut.

That was a hell of a bluff, but you can't blame Farha for throwing in when there was a flush possibility like that. He made the smart choice at that point. Also, you can't blame him for going all in with that pair of jacks, you just can't figure your opponent is holding a 4 5.

Moneymaker was, from day 1, the luckiest player in the entire tournament. When he was about to lose his ass several times, he got lucky and drew out (Phil Ivey anyone?). he would repeatedly flop 2 small pairs while his oppenents had 1 high pair. i believe he flopped a full house at the final table one time.

You gotta give him credit for winning the tournament, though. He was able to knock people out when he made powerful hands.

    Kenny,

    Agreed,

Poker is about luck sometimes as well.

The hand before he bluffed that cat out of a million dollar pot with NOTHING, it was awesome.

You rarely lose in poker with crap hands, only good ones..where someone has a better one...

    :)

I saw moneymaker beat Phil Ivey's full house with that last second ace thrown. Moneymaker was pretty lucky, but he wasn't stupid either. The winner is always lucky, doesn't mean you should take anything away from him.

Ivey wore that Francis jersey, is he on this site?

Yep. He played well, but the flop as well as 4th and 5th street helped him more than anyone. Hell, he beat Ivey's fullhouse to knock him out.

The second to last hand, Farha said "you missed the straight didn't you," but, what could sammy do? I don't really remember Moneymaker bluffing very much.
