AFTERNOON UPDATE: The Wizards pulled off the first trade of the off-season today when they sent Courtney Alexander to the Hornets in return for the No. 17 pick. The Hornets used a previous $1.9 million trade exception to make the deal work. "I think the NBA is about opportunities . . . It's another opportunity for me in my career," Alexander told the Washington Post. Insider first reported that the two teams were talking on Friday. The question now is whether the Wizards will keep the pick and select either Bostjan Nachbar, Jiri Welsch or Dan Dickau (three players they covet) or whether they will move this pick onto Denver. Insider reported Monday that the Wizards and Nuggets were talking about a swap (in anticipation of this trade) that would send James Posey to D.C. in return for the 17th pick and Tyronn Lue. A Nuggets source told Insider that the Nuggets have received several offers for Posey and are still mulling their options. Let’s hope they do it. If they get Posey they don’t need Nachbar at the 11th pick. Word is the want Wagner.
I hope they land Posey too. It doesn't look like anyone else will select Nachbar in front of us except the wizards. I also saw analysis from Katz and Ford on ESPNews and they kept raving about Nachbar. How he would provide an impact for the team that drafts him next year. Needless to say I got really pumped about the idea of being able to get him and Ming in the same draft.
i really hope we can land nachbar he would be a great addition to this team. Did you see espn how they are saying memphis might take jeffries at the 4th pick.
Man, I'm torn. The Wizards are my second favorite team, and I don't want them to get Posey. Then again I don't want them to take Nachbar 11th, because I seriously want him on the Rockets. Don't quote me on this, but I do NOT think the Wizards will take Nachbar over Qyntel Woods, and possibly not over Jared Jefferies. And if Wagner's available they'd almost certainly take him. Woods just seems like the type of talent Jordan loves.
I really think we are going to get someone good at 15. Every year some lottery team reaches for a player and a higher rated player falls. Hopefully this year a couple of teams in front of us will reach and a player none of us thought we could get will fall right into our laps. I wish somehow it would be Nene because I think he is going to be a very good player. I just hope we dont reach at 15 for a player like Prince. The Rockets have been known to surprise on draft day.
Man, talk about pressure. If the #1 and #15 both turn into quality players, the Rockets are an elite team in 2 or 4 years. If the #1 and #15 both flop(could damn well happen) then the team probably gets overhauled and we suck for quite a while. It's crunch time CD!
From what I'm hearing, if Washington trades for Posey, it won't affect the Rocks at #15 because they are offering the #17 pick for him, not #11.
I think they will use the 17th pick to get either Welsch or Dickau, and try to get a SF with the 11th pick.
What we're saying is that the Wizards will no longer want to take Nachbar at the 11 spot and we will be able to get him if they get Posey.
My fear is that the Rocks will take Tayshaun Prince or Jacobsen with that 15. I still remember Dave Jamerson, Buck Johnson, and how can we forget - Collier. That had to be the one trade that really cheesed me off, was us choosing Pryz then trading him for Collier. I couldn't get excited and never will about either of those players. I want Stoudemire, Nachbar, or Woods. 2nd tier - Ely or Haislip. Beyond that I hope we play "lets make a deal". The draft to me is all about intrigue and this years intrigue really centers around the #15, because I think Ming as a Rocket is a given.
Taking Jacobson with it would be horrible,if the Rockets really want Prince then they should trade down to get him.
Totally what I was thinking............. Nachbar will be the 15th pick.......... Woods looks to be going to the Lakers, that's right the Lakers, it's time for KOBE to have a running mate, that's all the rest of the league needs. I have no idea how they will do it other than Fisher, Horry and there # 1 which is 27th overall. We shall see. The Rockets should have pushed for Odom and the Clippers #8 instead of Ming, it could have been Hillario, and Odom instead...........Just my 2 cents.............
