http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=truehoop&i=TWT&id=65784&w=1dpsi Interesting read. Surprising that the Warriors are ranked 16th in offensive efficiency-- and are actually a much better defensive team. They have some talent and their starting backcourt has a cool nickname but the team is bricking a lot of shots for a supposed "fun" "must watch League Pass" team. Also, not sure where the GSW health situation is compared to the Rockets'. Seems the Rockets have not fallen into as much of a slump with guys out as the Warriors have. Credit to the Rockets guys, especially Dwight, for picking up for each other.
Dwight has incredible durability. Other than that one freak injury, Dwight never ever gets injured, despite getting hacked all game long and playing the most physically demanding position in the league. He's the anti-Yao/T-mac.
LOL @ ESPN highlighting GSW's roster weaknesses when the same folks heralded them as a contender. Jump-shooting team, folks
Everytime people talk about them, they fail to cite that they have never moved higher than the 7th or 6th seed this season...
there weren't that many people afraid of the warriors. There were many more people that were disgusted they were ranked higher than the Rockets after losing crucial players. i will admit i was tricked by how well they played against the Thunder, but I agree, overrated media darlings. Klay and Barnes are not playing very well this year
If you listen to Bill Simmons' NBA podcasts, he always has this disapproving and disappointed tone anytime the Rockets are being discussed but absolutely lights up when the Warriors are brought up. I guess I'm not surprised since he did he name them the #1 League Pass Team (which I don't necessarily disagree with) and dubbed them "the Internet's Team" before the season started. He pretty much has a hardcore boner for them. Just a week ago he said he thought the Warriors were the best team out of the Clippers, Rockets, Warriors and if their was a team they could take out in the first round in 4-5 match up he would choose the Rockets (he said this was also true for most of the other teams too) because he we have the most glaring weaknesses. Does he not know the Rockets are 5-1 the last 2 seasons against them and have blown them out in 3 of those wins? Now I love Bill Simmons because he comes off as a hardcore basketball fan like me but sometimes it seems he only watches National TV games like Shaq and Barkley.
Yeah, by pointing out ESPN has multiple writers and multiple opinions via those writers I'm clearly a Warriors fan.
They are incredibly overrated. I hope the Bulls blow them out. DJ Augustin is trolling their "defense" hard.
Warriors aren't sportsing enough. If they want to win they need to outsport their opponent and score more points.
Warriors health problems so far: - Jermaine O'neals only played 18 games this season - Iguodala was out for like a couple of weeks - Toney Douglas missed around a month. That seems about it for the biggies. Rockets have had more of an injury problems then them.
They've been missing Festus Ezeli all season so far. When he returns, he'll be first off the bench for Bogut and JO will be 3rd string center.
As much fun is it to watch the Splash Brothers, especially Curry when he gets hot, the Warriors are terribly overrated and pseudo-tough. They are a lesser version of the Rockets. A team that likes to play uptempo, shoot a bunch of threes, has an star guard who is part of a noteworthy backcourt, similarities are everywhere. But, the Warriors cannot do what we do; not even close in output or with the same efficiency. I know Iguodala missed a lot of time, especially at the start of the season, but he hasn't been particularly great for them or at least what a lot of people thought he would be to their team. He is averaging 10/4/4 for them. He was never a high scoring threat, but averaging under 10 points in that uptempo offense is pretty bad. And he was supposed to fit right in with their core, coming from the fast paced Nuggets team and that hasn't been the case so far. The reason so many people like to jump on their bandwagon as opposed to our's is because Curry's game is a lot more "prettier" than James and they play in California. ESPN and Simmons had them a tier above us as the "Darkhorse Championship Team" but if that was the case, they shouldn't be a 7th seed like they are now, struggling to keep up with the rest of the pack. When it comes down to it, they are just a team that could be pretty scary when they are hot but otherwise a non-factor if the threes aren't falling like they haven't been this season.
