Will rehab and attempt a comeback for the playoffs. The guy is a warrior. If i were Detroit i would cringe just a bit right about now http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2788267
his shoulder is going to pop in out of its socket constantly, i'm not sure he will be the same with or without surgery.
I think Miami is making a big mistake. The way the guy plays, you know it's going to pop out again and it might seriously hurt him in the long run. Surgery is inevitable, and I think that while Wade might want to play through it he would be well-advised to reconsider the long-term consequences. I don't think the Heat are doing the right thing here...
Heck, I wouldn't be surprised to see the refs out there shooting his free-throws for him. The instant foul-generating invisible force field that surrounds D. Wade will only get larger in the playoffs, I'm sure. The guy is a stud, but I don't get the near-Jordan treatment that he gets.
If Heat wins another title, Dwade is going right up to Jordan-sphere. If Heat loses, and wade's shoulder pops out again, it's going to be most dumb move. Either way, it's drama, cant wait.
it's only the left shoulder it shouldn't affect wade too much at worst he'll be forced to have surgery quicker rather than later.
How so when he's known for being a physical player? He is always driving inside and creating contact. I just don't see him being nearly as effective with a major injury like this. I believe Chris Webber had a similar injury and opted not to do the surgery and tried to play through it. Problem is his shoulder kept popping out of place and CWeb is not exactly known for his physicality, he's pure finesse. I predict that he will try to play through it, won't play too well, then will re-injure it and will just decide to shut it down until next season.
Injuries like his are reaggravated very easily(I've seen guys with it pop it out just lifting their backpack) and you know it's going to get pounded if he goes in the paint. I don't like his chances of a healthy playoff run, but I guess we shall see.
I think you might be overreacting a bit there. Not every injured NBA players is another Grant Hill in the making. Besides, Grant Hill never won a ring.
A good friend of mine severely dislocated his shoulder requiring an ER visit to get it back in the socket -- just like Wade. Until Wade has some sort of amazing high tech surgery that shoulder isn't going to be the same. He's being dumb trying to come back this season without some surgery to stabilize the shoulder in the joint.
hill ****ed up his ankle by coming back too early to play in the playoffs in his final year in detroit. I'd say that makes the comparison more apt than "omg, Odom = Hill".
what we're missing here is, sure one of us can get the same thing wade got, but does a multi million franchise depend on you? NO. the heat are going to give wade million dollar treatment(literally) because their asses depend on him. i wish someones rich ass depended on me so i would get world class treatment too
I think this is a mistake, but I don't know exactly what the doctors told him. IMO, Wade is too young to take this kind of risk.
I think this is a good move. a) He's not definitely coming back. He's only coming back if he's strong enough in the shoulder towards the end of the season b) He can still have surgery in the offseason. I think he'll be fine long-term..
This is a brief profile of the doctor/specialist that was looking at Wade's injury: http://www.answers.com/topic/james-r-andrews While I think its crazy Wade wants to return, I'm sure this Doc knows a thing or two about arms. He wouldn't tell Wade he could return this season if he saw a problem
