Mcgrady is a great player and a great individual, but it's frustrating how he lets things outside of his control effect him so easily. We know you haven't had enough support in the past to get it done, so what? That shouldnt effect your attitude in any way. You're the best player on the team and youre paid like the best player on the team, just lay it all out there and if it doesn't happen, it doesnt happen. Stop trying to convince everyone that its not your fault. That's what losers do. Just keep doing whatever you can do in your power to get a championship and everything will take care of itself. That's what great players do. I'll be the first guy to say that the criticism Tracy recieves is unwarranted. That being said, his attitude could be better. Just play basketball. He's too good to be worried about what random Joe thinks about him.
Man the reporters just set him up for him to stick his foot in his mouth. When he said he didn't have Shaq or Duncan, I was thinking... "Yeah, that Yao Ming, he's a scrub!". The fewer excuses T-Mac makes, the less people will keep going to him asking for more excuses.
Damn, t-mac exploding in the 2nd round on the lakers would be a dream come true. I'm really curious to see him bring the "unknown" that he can produce if he gets there.
Good interview, but I feel like Smith didn't hear what he wanted to. As for Artest I agree with Tracy. I mean Ron made mistakes, but everybody makes mistakes. It is all about how do you respond to that. Come on, Ron is not stupid. He knows what he wants and he knows he needs to show it on the court, not off the court. I just don't know why people are concerned about Ron. Things happen. But he is a missing piece here in Houston and I am sure he is not gonna repeat his mistakes. I am not concerned AT ALL.
You know who else never played with Shaq or Tim Duncan? Like 9/10ths of every NBA All-Star who ever got to the second round. You can use that card if you want to excuse yourself from winning championships, but to go there when you can't even get out of the first round (especially when you have Yao Ming) is just a total cop out.
McGrady is right. The only 2 people i can think of from that Orlando team that played in the series that's still playing today is Jacque Vaughn and Pat Garrity. 3 actually including Grant Hill but he wasn't playing at the time due to injury. The way i see it McGrady is following the path of Kevin Garnett. Took years to get out the 1st round and when he did he went to the Western Conference Finals. Only thing is i hope and pray that T-Mac goes all the way
sorry but this is true. I mean look at Orlando's roster from those years. They have really nobody but Grant Hill (who rarely played) who could take the scoring pressure off McGrady's shoulders.
In his defense, he never really had Yao Ming except for the '05 playoffs. Yao was coming back from injury in '07, and he wasn't there at all last year. '05 shouldn't be counted against McGrady all that much because it was his first year and they were already underdogs with a makeshift bench and role players.
Great interview, i really hope Tracy takes this team to the finals and many many more finals after that. and all this talk about Tracy making excuses, well if the fans and the media would stop riding on him and acknowledge his efforts then obviously he would not have to defend himself and make excuses cuz he knows he can only play his best, he cant make his team mates hit those game winning shots.
Orlando PG Vaughn SG McGrady SF Garrity PF Kemp washed up drugg addict C pat burke It's amazing that team made it to the playoffs. let alone had a 3-1 against one of the greatest defensive teams of alltime in the pistons. The only time he should have or his team was the fave to advance was 07. even then yao was coming off a injury and we had no bench.
tmac played great in 05.I rememeber the rockets had the serios in hand and then he someone loses a rebound to make the series 2-1.I mean he had the rebound in his hands are u kidding me.
I really like Tmac, maybe he's not playing as hard as in the playoffs, but I do think he's a great player, it's just that he does not have the body that could play up to all 82 games like Kobe & Lebron. I really hope he could take this team with Yao and Ron to the promise land.
