Not sure of the validity of this since the author seems to think Scola is just a throw in.

Could we see a trade between the Miami Heat and the Houston Rockets that would send Jermaine O'Neal to Texas and Tracy McGrady to Florida?

Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel writes about the possibility.

"There is an undeniable sense that change is in the air, and for more than the benching of Mario Chalmers, the waiving of Shavlik Randolph and the recent deep freeze of Daequan Cook. So, in that vein, perhaps Jermaine O'Neal for Tracy McGrady might get new legs, with McGrady getting a test run Tuesday from the Rockets. The Heat's trade exception would allow for Luis Scola or Brian Cook to also be included in such a deal, to provide a replacement in the power rotation (perhaps the reason for the waiving of Randolph?)"

Hmm, let's see. Who would I rather throw in the deal Brian Cook, or Luis Scola. Wow, tough one ESPN genius.

Too bad you didn't write that instead of Ira (my idol is Sam Smith and Peter Vecsey).

haha if the heat think they're getting someone like Scola and T-Mac they are severely mistaken... Scola probably has a better offensive game than O'Neal right now...

There's a big difference in Brain Coook and Luis Scola.

If we could get J. O'neal by giving up Cook and TMac, I'd try it.

how could be B.Cook and Scola on the same line for "A or B"? did he watch any single Rocket game?

Last year we got Artest, and now we are getting O'neal. and next year, let's get Stephen Jackson, and Reggie miller for head coach.

I am against this trade. I think we can do a heck of alot better than JO's expiring for Tmac. Doing that essentially destroys half of the ~7 million in cap space McGrady coming off the books provides. Unless the Rockets want to resing JO on the cheap, I think its a pointless trade unless we get some sort of prize with JO, and theres nothing I really covet on the Heat roster. Ive been proposing this trade on Raptor boards and the reception has been EXTREMELY positive:

    Tmac + Scola + Brooks + Cook

    for

    Bosh + Banks + Calderon

O'neal is doing pretty good this year, we are overloaded at the wing position, it would give the Rockets a legitimate starting center, with a contract that expires this year, and it give Tracy a chance to start over and get his bird rights owned by a team that may want to keep him.

And, it probably get D Wade excited.

Not a bad deal....it is certainly NOT Eddie Curry.

problem is, you are conceding that you are getting nothing in return for Tracy and that you are willing to let it expire. Jermaine does not represent a significant upgrade at the position. and we're talking about someone that knows a training room better than yao or tracy. I could see him being here a week and going down.

now if it's a couple of their smaller expirings and mario chalmers, I'm in.

Yeah, I wonder why it go an "EXTREMELY positive" reaction? duhhhh, maybe because that's practically everything that's making this team great right now? (w/ the exception of B-Cook, of course)

Seriously? You think that trade is good for the Rockets??

At the least I would want to get a 1st round draft pick if they were to take Oneal.
