I wonder if this really makes the Hornets better? I'm not sold on it. I do like Wilcox though.

only if they don't trust Chandler to stay healthy.. cause then they get players to replace an injured guy, along with future pick(s) to help their future team. They're still young, built around Paul and West..another high pick with those 2 could be huge

New Orleans doesn't regularly sell out its games. The team is in financial turmoil. They needed to get out from under Chandler's huge contract. The deal will likely hurt the Hornets on the court (Chandler was the PERFECT complement to that team) but it will save the team a ton of money. Also, don't expect the Hornets to be able to replace the expiring contracts with a big time free agent. The team will not be under the cap far enough to bring in an impact player with that cap room.

This is a great trade for the Rockets this season (hurts a competitor) but could prove harmful down the road (the Thunder could become very good, very fast - like the Hornets last year).

    They can't contend without Chandler.

Morey probably likes our chances in the West.

If the Hornets had stayed in OKC, they'd be selling out. :D

this is a payroll cutting move for the hornets.. i don't know how they'll replace chandler, since he was shot blocker, rebounder and had a pretty good connection with cp3 on those pick and roll alley oops, but i guess they're confident that they can move forward without chandler and keep building around cp3 and dwest.

i think this is a trade where NOLA is conceding trying to go for a title this year. they have struggled and have not stayed healthy this season, and giving up chandler let's their intentions be known. i hope OKC doesn't give them one of the really high draft picks they may have (i'm sure they won't), because NOLA can be pretty good again if they add a few more cheap pieces.

Chandler and West made up a good defensive frontcourt, Yao better take advantage of Hilton Armstrong,Chris Wilcox,Melvin Ely, Sean Marks.

The Hornets concede they will not contend this season. This has to be a big disappointment to their few fans. They must be in really bad financial shape to do this.

If Chandler is healthy, the Thunder are instantly better, but it's gotta hurt him to go from a pretender to a bottom feeder.

The morale on the Hornets will be deflated by this move. I don't like many of their players but I kind of feel sorry for them.

Its gonna be a pretty big loss for NO. Wilcox doesn't bring much IMO, especially on the defensive side. I don't like him playing the 5 either. Joe Smith is probably the player more conducive to winning basketball (not Wilcox).

I wonder how many teams are going to take a step back due to economic problems. Its looking to be a lot...

I've been tracking Chandler this season because he's on my fantasy team. His value is pretty low now due to injury and the health problems of his daughter or wife or something like that. He has admitted that his mind has not been fully focused on basketball this year.

Wow! Cutting cost move. I agree the Hornets concede their season. They are just happy to be in the playoffs.

Chris Paul is pissed. Maybe the Rockets can get him. Alston + Head for CP3. :D

    Why are they doing that?

If they are going to name Portland as a problem, needing a 7footer, they need to say the Rockets too. I hope we get them in the first round and pushish them

well from what i've seen.. tyson chandler doesnt have a post up game and just rebounds and catches alley hoops.. hilton armstrong can do everything he does and more.. and i dont think cp3 is upset... cp3 and dwest are the key pieces to their team

punish them? do u mean with yao ming , a player who cant even catch his breath and run up and down the court for more than 15 minutes? the hornets will just push the ball down the court more..which hurts unathletic teams like the rockets.. im sure mcgrady will just watch the player run

I know the Hornets were trying to get rid of Peja because of his contract. I still think the Hornets a good team but not a great team. They shouldn't of given all that money to Posey. He really hasn't done much for them this year. They really don't have a bench.

Now Wilcox has given Yao some trouble at times. He's not really a bad rebounder at all. He hasn't gotten a lot of minutes. This will be probably a great move for him.

wow a huge loss imo for the hornets.

chandler did not have a post up game but he was a very mobile 7 footer who was athletic and could rebound and block shots with the best of them. he also had great chemistry going with paul when it came to screen and rolls.

armstrong is a better offensive player but not nearly the defensive prescence that chandler is. same with wilcox and joe smith.

if they dont get a favorable first round matchup and HC they are probably out in the first round. yeah i would have put chandler 3rd in the hierarchy of hornets players in terms of the relevance to team success.

the thunder will still not being going anywhere but they are shaping up a semi-decent team with some young stars. they will need a few more draft picks (5 first round in the next 2 years??) will do the trick in rounding out their bench and starting 5. Durant is a superduper star and westbrook and green are potential future all-stars.
