[ESPN] Source: Sale of Rangers nears $570M

They almost spent nearly half their franchise value on A-Rod.

 

Damn. I was hoping for this to fall through. It means 2 things to me...

1. Nolan won't be a part of any potential ownership group to buy the Astros from Drayton.

2. It likely means the Round Rock Express will become the AAA team of the Rangers. Dell Diamond is 5 miles from my house. I go to 15-20 games per season. A huge part of it is because they have been the AA and AAA team of the Astros. If they're the Rangers' team, I'm no where near as likely to go. I think it's a big part of the relatively big crowds they get, too. There are a lot more Astros fans in Austin than there are Rangers fans.
