Colorado already has received an invitation to join the conference, while five other invitations will be extended to Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, according to a source familiar with the negotiations.
Ah well, the domino effect takes hold. Man, this is gonna be kinda weird when it's all said and done.
dumb question alert! i dont really follow college football much. why are they breaking up the big 12 conference? it would be weird to see texas in the pac 10.
Pac 16 doesn't sound right at all. How about Stacked 16. Everybody is gonna beat the hell out of each other. I'm most excited for a conference championship game. Something the Pac 10 sorely lacks. So I'm assuming there will be like an eastern division vs western division or north vs south broken down to 8 teams in each division . I wonder where each team will fall.
I just read on esspn that it will be broken down into east and west. East will be the 6 teams from the big 12 plus the two arizona schools
Fantastic news for me being a Duck fan. USC is out of the picture for good... not like they were ever really in it even before the ban. Arizona who plays Oregon tough gets moved to another division. My team gets an opportunity to play for a conference championship game from now on. A championship game against perennial powerhouses such as Texas and Oklahoma? DROOL..... We got rid of that scrub Masoli for good. Awesome! This almost mitigates the need for a playoff system and lessens the chances of the BCS being "crashed". Ideally, there should be no doubt that the winner of the Pac 16 and winner of SEC face off in the NC game. It's usually the SEC vs. Big 12 winner anyways so the Pac 16 winner would be even more justified in playing in the NC game and any team that wins the SEC is usually well deserved. The only team I can see stopping this from happening is Ohio State if they go undefeated while having an impressive strength of schedule.
http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_15264897 ESPN.com reported Wednesday night that the Pac-10 has extended an invitation to Colorado. "That's news to me," CU athletic department spokesman David Plati said. "For us, it's status quo. We have nothing new to report."
Quick question: Does this Pac-SW merger mean I get to watch more pacific coast Basketball? I Love Oregon, Washington, UCLA, Arizona basketball.
As a CAL grad from Texas I don't like it. This going to water down even more than it already is the signifigance of the Rose Bowl and wipes out the last vestiges of old Southwest Conference. Do we really need 4 super conferences spanning over several geographic regions?
Are you going to post this in every thread about the conference moves? I kid, man. I don't even know what's going on.
Damn, We're all in the same gang <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bFmiKodg1tc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bFmiKodg1tc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
it is good for Oregon, for sure. They are now the big dog as i see a big decline in USC. Not so good for AZ, as they will have to deal with OU & UT every year
This might help out CAL to but I am still not a fan of this change. There has always been the Bay Area LA rivalry and in recent years there has been a good rivalry between CAL and Oregon. Now that the Pac-10 is going to grow to the Pac-16 or Pac-18 I'm not sure what is going to happen to those rivalries.
WOO HOO!!! No offense guys, but I want to leave the Texans behind. I was a huge fan of the CU & Utah to the Pac 10 to make the Pac 12 idea. I'd rather go to the west coast than Lubbock and Norman (no offense Techers and Oklahomans). But whatever, I'm thrilled to be in the Pac 10, er, 11, er, 12, er 16.
